Round 7: Changes Vs Adelaide Crows

Surprised there have been many more calls to drop Brayshaw compared to McCarthy considering by far our best footy has been when we have only had 2 of Hogan, Taberner, McCarthy and our worst games have been with all three. They could just need time to gel but there's evidence to suggest that going with just 2 makes us better side, and McCarthy probably was the worst performer on the weekend, granted he may not have been fully recovered.
They wouldn’t have picked him if he wasn’t 100%. He’s not Fyfe!
Not sure how they measure but I think the metrics would be close to the money.

Yeah Tucker is going nowhere, his skills are actually elite, its just not noticed that much yet. Ideally, in a year or two, that 20 possession average sneaks up to 25-30, then he'll be invaluable and arguably our second best mid behind Fyfe (I'm serious).
I sat with Tucker at the gala ball and wondered if he was going to take the next step as, for a highish pick, he had produced f all.
His season so far has been amazing. Everyone picked Logue to be the big improver bit this kid has been awesome. Rarely gets knocked off the inside ball, has composure, lots of time and elite disposal efficiency.
I wholeheartedly agree with your view.
Solid post.

Maybe he’s not close!
Hasn’t really been setting the wafl world alight. Has been solid tho.

You have to wonder what position North would play at AFL level. From what I can tell at WAFL level the main thing is he is good by hand or foot around packs and can win it in tight, but he doesn't have much speed so getting out into space is problematic. He is good but not exceptional by foot, and he doesn't have any specific height advantage either.

Have they travelled already?

No, they will fly out this afternoon after their final training session. Two players will be cut from the extended bench after training this morning and they will take just the one travelling emergency to Adelaide, I think.

Duman I expect won't be the travelling emergency, as he did not play a game last week at all due to suspension. That's why they will never use the same emergency player twice in a row - as they need to keep their match fitness up.

Hey Boys. Fantasy player here. Anyone give me to intel on Bewley, seems like a player but with Blakley sitting there aswell what’s his JS like if he does play?

Unlikely to play. Will probably be the travelling emergency, we often take a young player if they haven’t traveled before. Show them what it’s like.

Fellow fantasy player. Wouldn't touch unless Langdon or B.Hill get injured. If he gets a game with those two in the side JS is very poor.

I think all but 0% chance he plays this week either. Wasn't amazing for Peel and Freo won.

Very poor JS unless bulk injuries.

Thanks for that guys! I'll keep an eye on him, best of luck for the weekend!

Wow I got to watch tucker more. He does good work but I haven't really got that impression

I should put a disclaimer on that I dont think its that easy to go from 20 touches to 25 to 30 a game. I think he can get to 25 but thats probably his limit.

But next game, give him a good watch. His kicking and decision making is incredibly under-rated. I now actively watch for his mistakes because they are so incredibly rare. He made one with a bad kick on the weekend and its the first one I actually remember all year. See if you can remember a time this year you've said "God damn it Tucker." Bet you'll struggle

I went a year early and said hed be our most improved last season so its good to see its happening. If him and hughes fulfill their potentials thats a couple of big bodies that can go in the middle.

I get confused by people who get extremely emotional about our skills being poor and then want to drop a player like Tucker?!? Does my head in. I think it stems from the idiotic media who rate players mostly on how many disposals they rack up. People are wondering why we are doing so well after losing our best ball winner in Neale... pretty obvious to most who have a clue that it's because we've replaced his spot with one of the most damaging players in the AFL in Walters.

Freo Dockers - The answer is always Half Back ;)

A games a game to a hamstring though isn't it?
Yes and no. The intensity at AFL level is what seems to matter as closing speeds and reaction times are faster. Remember Anthony Jones (now at the Wiggles as a physiological and runner I think)- had a decent careehr ahead of him in the AFL but struggled to put more than few games together at a time. Eventually retired and went back to playing WAFL for CLAREMONT for several seasons with little or no injury issues...

Nothin against Tucker, but is he really a "big body"?
He looks quite small compared to others
