Anyone who plays in the forward line goes missing occasionally. Thats the nature of playing in the forward line.

Defenders mistakes often cost goals. Doesn't stop people calling for their heads or pointing it out.

I hope we leave Ballas at peel for a few weeks before they look at picking him. The chemistry up forward is pretty good, and Ballas needs to be desperate to be any good.

I'm not sure who to drop, but I do know the problem in the last quarter was the midfield, not the defence or the forward line. As soon as shill is available he should come back for long bomb Pearce.

With Walters in the midfield Balla is the best small forward in the side. He will not be playing at Peel.

IN : S Hill

OUT : H Crozier

If you watch the behind the goals vision in the AFL Wrap with Lloyd et al, Crozier was a f**king idiot.
We had the f**king ball FFS.
I'm a fan, but he needs to go back to Peel.
Totally agree. Put himself before the team.

Doesn't make it any less stupid either.

Crozier averaged 25 possessions a game when he played in the back line. He averages less in the forward line, as does everyone. Literally meaningless.

Maybe, if the side keeps winning he may struggle. Ross seems to have moved past his phase where he always played his favourites. If Ballas kicks a bag in his first game back at Peel, he will most likely come in. If not..

You will take every opportunity to drop crozier at all cause.

Pearce and Croz out. (ibbo is still a frustration)

Hill and Ballas in.

Hill back in for Pearce. Immediate upgrade. Pearce should only be in as a backup here on in. And as a back up he goes ok.
Ballas in for croz, who missed chances and gave a free away when we had a chance to go deep into our forward line at a pivotal time. Why would you even get sucked into that? Brain fart.

So youth policy doesn't apply to Croz? Aren't we rebuilding? But you want to drop a 24 year old for a 29 year old who's been poor for 2 seasons and is coming off a serious injury?

Croz is more in the brackets of middle age youth category.

No he isn't.

He's 23. He will be here for our next premiership window. Ballantyne won't.

Crozier made a couple of blunders and needs to lift his game a bit but no way should he be dropped atm.
No asking him to be dropped but trying to mix things up with Weller eg HB role. As much as I like ballas he is just a small forward that can't play more than one position .

Croz was below average and could do with being dropped imo. I also don't think it is a surprise that a small forward had a rough patch in a crap forward line the last two years.

Croz has had a habit of coming in and playing a few good games and then having some average ones. His free kick give away was amateur to say the least. If we don't want to bring in Ballas then lets bring in Balic if he is fit. Either way croz just like sheridan needs to decide if he is going to become a consistent top tier performer or remain very average.

Let Croz fight it out in the AFL, he is still bringing great pressure and leads our I50 tackle count.

He was given a chance last year and cemented his spot, keep giving him a chance forward and don't drop him off the back of 1 sub standard game, hell if he kicks straight he has 2 goals and noone is calling for his head...

Exactly.

He was great last year in the backline. Of course he is going to be inconsistent in the forward line. Show me a forward who isn't.
As freoleo said, it's really about kicking straight. That's the most important thing for a forward. Croz seems to have the yips at the moment but he's normally one of the best kicks for goals on our list.

Which begs the question, why isn't he still there? We really struggle at half-back and he gave us so much poise - we've got more players that can cover half-forward than half-back.

I also thought Crozier by foot off half back was close to the best we've had in a long time. He sees things ahead that some don't and he was quick to put ball on foot and hit targets. Was reasonable in the air and thought he had cemented a place at half back.

I wouldn't hesitate to put him back there and drop Ibbo should Ballas, Balic or Hill need to come in.

Sometimes it's not exactly like for like in the true sense of drop a player and recall a player.

For me Ibbo is on thin ice and those saying we don't have anyone to replace him are blinded by the inability to see flexibility.

Also if there's forecast rain then I'm not against making tough calls. Taberner in the wet is a deadset liability. Absolutely love what he's done the past 2 weeks and always maintain I'm a huge fan, but he's allergic to rain.

That might have been true previously when he was playing as a forward and nothing else. But now he has value as our backup ruckman, he's going to be picked even if it's raining. Someone has to chop out for Sandi and he's the best we've got at the moment.

Fair enough.

Just throwing out scenarios

If wet weather just play without Sandi , apart from tap work he won't be able mark the ball in the wet . tab and Johnson with be good enough .

A bit off topic here but if the game is tied and it's a kick after the siren. It's 45 meters out and it's Murphy for the blues with the footy backed up on the fence taking the kick for the win . Do you whisper in his ear Carey just said to say hi to your mrs ? :0 lol

Wanted Ballas gone at the end of last year. With the way we're playing, I think he'd compliment our line up and work well with our talls. Ballas adds elite pressure, ferocious tackling and knows where the goals are. The way we're playing suits him. It's difficult who goes out for him, Langdon, Crozier and Grey all deserve their spots. Allows Walters to play more midfield minutes too and needless to say how it will compliment Walters when hes forward also.
