Recommitted Rowan Marshall [OOC 2027] - Requested Trade to Geelong, didn't get done

You are happy with ending the Silvagni dynasty.
Yeah we know
Stephen left the place in a state - his list build was terrible - so many early picks went to the dogs. ( actually the saints!).

The bloke refused to support JSOS while he played there - quite a piece of work.

We all would have preferred to keep JSOS - he's a good solid player when he’s fit.

Doesn’t really matter what Geelong’s position is.

And no, it’s not like Bailey Smith, who was out of contract and the Bulldogs wanted to be done with.

St Kilda identified TDK to play alongside Marshall, not instead of. He’s contracted for two more years, likely on a favourable deal. Your pick 17 in a weakened, compromised draft doesn’t carry a heap of value.

St Kilda are surely happy to keep Marshall and execute their initial vision.

Just like Merrett, if Geelong won’t meet the asking price, St Kilda keep the contracted player. They won’t be bullied into accepting less.
I think you replied to the wrong post, I was just outlining what Geelong's position was in offering a first this year instead of next.

Yeah you're still in the wrong thread mate 👍

I think the thing that meets saints needs is getting rid of Marshall for an ok pick. It would take a lot to convince me that the saints internally actually believe Marshall as a forward benefits them.
How he benefits, is if King struggles to get back
We have a short key forward line e.g. Owens, Sharman, Wood.
Caminiti & Keeler haven't proven themselves just yet.

Did it though? There were a lot of sides. That basically put in a Mulligan that year and there were 20 other players on the team. TDK has been shown to be consistently ineffective when sharing the role too.

All the taking points about keeping him just seem like baseless positioning to me
We don’t have cover for Max King currently on the list other than TDK or Marshall.

Given Ming’s run with injury’s and the ongoing concerns around his recovery from recent surgery’s that’s reason enough on its own.

Also mulligan yeah ok, looks like a very impressive top 8. Unusual circumstances yes but no one had a mulligan.

King has been out for a year.
Who knows how long its going to take for him to get back firstly, then get back to his best.
Marshall is the 'Shannon Neale' size that we need in our forward line.
Still think that is baseless do ya?
Give us what we need or we hold
Simples

I’m not sure it does, I think we’re expecting an exceptional offer otherwise we keep him.

That could change if Marshall kicked off but he’s not that kind of guy and he knows the situation.

I think we will ask for more than that. Hopefully we do.

But if I had to guess that's about what will end up getting done.

I hope you're right though.

So use our pick to get back in the draft then, as it seems you’ll be trading a combination of 2025 and 2026 picks for Flanders, Aleer and Ryan.

Either way; the Marshall deal will get done.
Geelong probably thought that last year as well.

How’d that work out for you and the only thing that’s changed is we’re putting together a stronger deeper side. Marshall will a platoon ruck at Geelong in the same say he’s predicted to be used by st Kilda.

Geelong's 1st this year is Nothing.
Keep him this year.
Let him go one year older next year for Nothing.

Marshall will be at Geelong next year and that’s all I care about.

Good luck to the Saints and their ‘stronger deeper’ side.

I haven't seen anyone suggest that but if they have then I agree, they are wrong.

I think it will be this year's first and a future second. If we have to give up a third rounder out of this draft than I won't be unhappy about it though.

That's about where I have it too. A compromise on the future 1st idea is what I expect.

Don't get too cocky. What I heard this morning may burst your bubble 🙂

Who’s being cocky? I agree St K will be a stronger side next year.

Getting a first rounder for Marshall and getting his salary off your books will be a win for you now that you have TDK.
