Your club is probably in the best position for that trade tbh.

Depends on other factors though.

We are in a good position in that we have the cap space and the no1 ruck spot open and his family is down our way which might appeal to him.
But we won't have a top 10 pick and won't be prepared to get one for Marshall and I don't expect you will trade him for the late r1 we might offer.

You need to look at the worth he brings for your side I suppose. On paper a first round pick for a 29 year old seems overs but when that player addresses your biggest weakness is elite at his position is very durable and could be a difference maker, a first round pick in a weak draft doesn’t seem to bad

That's a reasonable counter point. However if it's a weak draft i doubt st kilda would want to accept a late r1 and I can't see us offering much more.

Well recently he got towelled up by Meek and Cameron. Witts regularly destroys him aswell. English, Gawn, Grundy, Xerri.

He does get a hold of some poor rucks such as Stanley but really he isn't as good a ruck as many think.

Still hope we keep him and one-two punch him with TDK.

The club has SAVED IT for as long as they legally can, and MUST spend it this offseason. TDK is lucky that he's the man that has the privilege of being the highest paid players in history.

Historically, we overpaid our young talent, the likes of Jack Billings and Jade Gresham etc, because we couldn't pay it to established stars from other clubs. Overpaying on potential destroyed our cap and entrenched us firmly in no man's land.

Do I like the idea of paying TDK the money that's being reported? No. However, I would dare say, we are likely to front-end a fair portion of his deal, much like most of players currently on our list.

And thats the crime of not doing it correctly to start off with.. and you have to pre pay for it all correctly...

Despite being contracted until 2027, rumours are circulating that he may want out/be surplus to requirements if TDK lands at the Saints (which almost looks like a formality now).

Whilst I haven't been following him too closely, I believe his form in 2025 has been a little inconsistent compared to what his supreme best can be. Think he may have had a niggling injury or 2 as well, which would have played a part I'm sure. If I am off the ball with these comments, sorry and please correct me.

Regardless, at 29, he is obviously still in the top few ruckmen in the game and surely has more than a few great years ahead of him one would think.

Would be an absolutely perfect additon for a number of clubs including Geelong who seem to have recurring ruck nightmares.

If he was to leave, what do you think he would be worth in term of draft picks on the open market? What would appease the Saints?

I agree, his form has been a little bit down but he’s still a very handy player even when he’s off his game a little. I think he’ll leave if TDK ends up at St Kilda and he will look very good in a Geelong jumper if they can land him.

He's coming off no pre-season and played injured for a few games at the start of the year. To be playing as well as he is after that indicates a pretty good player I'd say.

No, Sam is happy in Geelong hence why he just re-signed. I can see the appeal for the Saints but we aren’t even sure the interest is mutual for cats and Marshall yet
