I love this guy and his thoughts. He is a piece of work in his own right :p

Super Footy Headline " Where Was Your Plan B Craigy ? " something doesn't add up at Westlakes !!

You have to admire his restraint or non restraint when he post's about his beloved Port Adelaide. He gives it because he has too. He has given it to Choco and Port all year in his words......... He is afterall a Chief Writer.

But when he has the chance to dig the steel cap into the Crows, he does it with gusto. And absolute brilliance.

I really like the Rucci as a writer. He puts his thoughts down on paper and trys so hard not to be biased.

Maybe he should team up with Cornsey on 5AA on the drive time sports show. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Piss Off Rowey !!!

I can't agree with you, the Rucc is a tool but Josh Francou's article today on the "Crow-wobbles" was very good!!

personally i have yet to read or hear much from Josh francou that I respect

rooch is definately like a dog with a bone - if that bone is something you believe in then he makes you hate him, but if you agree with him then you love him

either way, he doesnt mind stirring up trouble

Wait til they read his Roast today (even tho none of them buy the Advertiser). I expect to hear that Animal Welfare League has been inundated with kittens. ;)

I love the fact he has laid out in black and white why they cannot escape the choker tag (that we have previosly... and rightly) been tagged with.

I've noticed that of their last 6 finals played since 2006, they have lost 4. But in all four of those games they have given up half time leads (by 26, 12, 12, and 22 points respectively)

He also basically just had Rowie in tears for alleging a comment about women playing AFL (which it sounds like ... were not made by Rowie).

Its become pretty obvious that he has rowie firmly in his sights ... a target I am happy for him to have - but he better make sure his facts are immaculate if he wants to do us a favour and take Rowie out

I'd be focussing on the unprofessional comments/snipes made about Port on a daily basis.

apparently he has failed in this already, as in his roast he smashed rowie for saying that women could never play AFL because of the blood rule.
I heard this morning that it wasnt rowie who said it but a caller, who they cut off but infortunately not in time, and the comment went to air

The 5AA morning show had Rowey's sport report at 7:55am and Rowey was upset at what Rucci wrote in the Rucci's Roast today. Rowey was only on air this morning for a minute and being upset about this, cut off his show.

Rowey was distressed about this part - "Did you really say women would never make it as AFL players because of the blood rule?"

Rowey said, "i didn't say it, a caller said it, not me." 5AA tried to dump it but failed and them words made it on the air waves.

Cows supporters where calling and emailing the show this morning venting their anger at what Rucci wrote in the Advertiser. They read out some cow emails supporting Rowey and they read out one email (mine) about me supporting Rucci. This is what i said in my email below, but the morning crew stopped reading my email at: "doing this sort of thing to the PAFC for years."

The Morning Crew,

Well, well, well, the shoe's on the other foot Rowey. You deserve everything you get. You and others (Cornesy and KG) on your 5AA Sports Show have been doing this sort of thing to the PAFC for years. Now you know how we feel when you spread rumours about our great footy club. Maybe Rucci's giving you what you been giving us for years... BULL SHIT!

Don't expect too much from Crows, Power

Michelangelo Rucci
Thursday 17th September 2009

AS Port Adelaide started its journey in the AFL in 1997, coach John Cahill would have the same sign appear in the Power's changerooms: Expect To Win.

Cahill was setting a tone. Adelaide coach Neil Craig's mantra is to have his Crows live to high expectations. And he does this for a very good reason, as has been exposed yet again by another AFL finals campaign in which Adelaide has fallen short of the dream.

Re: Don't expect too much from Crows, Power

It is not surprising coach Mark Williams is now seeking psychological profiling of his squad which has been a basket case since the 2000 season began.

Fixed your article, Rooch.

Beginning with the Olympic year, Port has been Forrest Gump's box of chocolates ever since.

Die in the arse when least expected. Win great victories when least expected. Suffer huge momentum/scoreboard swings out of nowhere. Rarely step on a vulnerable opponent's throat until that delicious squelchy crack is heard. Et cetera, et cetera.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we get pumped by North by about 15 goals the year we won the premiership?

2004 Loses:

Melbourne by 53
Adelaide by 32
North by 92
Brisbane by 37
Essendon by 40

Though we also had some fairly big wins in 04, which probably isnt a common thing for us as we usually tend to drop off;

Essendon by 94
Hawks by 81
Richmond by 74 (The game after the North game)
Sydney by 72
Carlton 86
Melbourne 73
Bulldogs by 86

Re: Don't expect too much from Crows, Power

I thought Rucci was giving another honourable mention to the co-author of the Roast when referring to "ExpectToWin". :P

He's a tool, so you love all the other biased reporting on our footy ?

Rucci is clearly a Port Adelaide man, but he trys to tell it as it is. If you didn't read between the lines you could never pick his team.

I like him........shoot me for it.

Edit : Yes Joshy Francou is very good too, and he seems to be angry at Port Adelaide. Really he has nothing positive to say about our club. Did he have a bad depature ??

Yes. Damon White and Brad Symes first PAFC games IIRC.

Good post, and it's football facts. Mr Rucci is legendary in reminding us of history.

Although we got smashed to pieces in 2007, at least we got there. We shrugged our choking tag IMHO.

Where would i rather be be right now ?? A crows supporter, choking year after year in finals. The team for all South Australians ?

Or a club in turmoil, that i have confidence in, that will sort it's shite out. We are Port Adelaide.

I think that Rucci can feel what may happen. Thats why i regard him as a good footy writer.

We'll be ok ;)

Re: Don't expect too much from Crows, Power

The Roach

Say no more.

Considering his allegiance.......probably the best journalist we have. I think he is pretty even. What would you rather ????????

A pro crows journalist.....pumping the team for All South Australians. Of course you would. No eveness, because you are obviously pro Crow.

I think Rooch holds his own, better the devil you know thankyou.

You do his job then, you seem like your more qualified. Dare you to be more unbiased than he is, with his knowledge of the game.

In fact, you really suit being a footy journalist, we would absolutely love your work :):thumbsu:

Re: Don't expect too much from Crows, Power

I've used colorful words againct Rucci but this article is fantastic and surely clown fans would surely be sulking at his nicely worded summary of them. It's also somewhat good for us, he is some kind of Media White Knight for PAFC

Re: Don't expect too much from Crows, Power

The Cows have definitely been choking or underacheiving in Finals under Neil Craig.

What's the big deal?

I think its because the Crow fans spent 02 and 03 going mental and bring the term chokers into the AFL lingo and then they've gone and replicated that effort of finishing top 2 and not making the GF (how they defined a choke) and continued it on for three more years after and now they refuse to admit they have taken the chokers tag. Try talking to one of their fans and seeing if they will admit they are chokers... I know it's not a big deal just perplexing they won't admit it.

Re: Don't expect too much from Crows, Power

Yeah pretty much what Froggy said. We copped it badly earlier in the decade for our finals chokes, and while it was fairly well erased by our premiership in 04, we were still called chokers, coached by Choke-o, yada yada yada.

Since Craig started coaching them, the crows have blown leads time after time to lose finals they are heavy favourites to win (either pre game or after amassing a good lead). Yet their fans will bring out every argument under the sun to claim that their losses aren't chokes.

I think the word choke is used far too much. Not every loss is a choke. I dont regard our Sat night loss as a choke, we lost away to good opposition by a small margin. Had an opportunity to win, didn't take it

Unexpected losses in games you should absolutely win are a choke. No doubt the Crows 2005 loss to st Kilda fits in that catergory. Port losing to Collingwood and sydney at home might although in retrospect they were better opposition than given credit for. Loss in 2002 was just so surprising after the victory vs Brisbane in R22, one of the best games played at Football Park. Loss to Hawks in 2001 final was for sure. 2007 wasn't, Geelong were just better

Greg Norman lost a lot sadly but he didn't always choke. He did v Faldo in 96 for sure but not V Mize in 87 or at the 89 British Open

Sometimes you just lose you know. everybody finishes their finals campaign with a loss except the premiers (and those who didn't make it)

You were 5 goals up in a game the bookies said you were going to win ... and stopped. The final margin was small ... but you gave up a 5 goal lead.... you stopped, got spooked and threw everyone behind the ball.

Yes you came back, but the third quarter is 100% what the original definition of choke was... like being 5-1 up in the last set of a wimbledon final and losing. You were in a winning position and couldnt follow through. ...

Chocking used to mean losing when you were in a winning position... these days its evolved to include losing games you were expected to win.
