At the end of the day, does the margin make a difference ? Any loss will mean three consecutive elimination finals losses. At least 2009 and 2010 were not in Melbourne.

Margin and circumstance would both matter.

10 goals was just a figure pulled from the proverbial. I doubt Ratts would get the sack if we lost a close encounter but if we were to be comprehensively dismantled then he'd certainly be very nervous.

It would also not be fair to blame Ratten for a loss if we were to lose a few players during the game.

Sticks has somewhat retracted the statement that Ratten would be gone if we didn't manage a win in the finals and I believe him.

The comments made early in the year about us needing to win a final for Ratten to be reappointed have been blown way out of proportion. I'd be staggered if Ratts wasn't re-signed. By no means do I believe he's an outstanding coach but the improvement under him, particularly this season, has been significant.

He's now in his 4th full season as senior coach. We have made finals in 3 of those seasons and have come from a hell of a long way back. As I said, he's not an outstanding coach but the improvement is clear and that doesn't chance if we narrowly miss out on a finals victory.

Regardless, I hope all the above is irrelevant and we do get that finals victory next week. The supporters, the players and the coaches all deserve it.

Personally, I just think it's a matter of context. At the start of the year, when they were talking about winning a final, I think that was in the context of most people expecting us to finish 6th - 8th with a win loss ratio of about 13/9.

The fact that the club could finish 15-6-1 with the worst loss being 36 points, changes the landscape completely and would be looked upon as significant improvement almost regardless of the result next week.

Andrew Jarman stated on Triple M in Adelaide last night that Jack Gunstan is homesick and will seek a trade back to Victoria this October.

Would we be keen?

Wouldn't have thought so, very talented player but he is more of a lead-up type forward. We need a big forward who can take contested marks, i.e in the Butcher, S.Reid mould.

Yes and it's because it's a simple matter of dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

If we sign Space Shuttle Challenger to a coaching contract I will be very, very bitter.

Mmmmm or maybe the jury is out!

Or maybe people like you are reading too much into things and are making your own little agendas in regards to Ratts not having been offered a new contract yet.

I was at Poo Mokeys physio (not really) and overheard a conversation (no I didn't)

Anyway, it seems that our man Waite may be struggling with a bout of OP

Just something I heard from a source

AFL teams R Shaw????
I can confirm the rumour Sugar will be gold

Gunston is pure class, an excellent prospect in my opinion. Still very skinny but the talent is there for all to see...

I think he'd be a great addition to our forward structure and I would be very happy if we could land him.

Wouldn't come cheap, however.

If he nominated us, it'd be nice to turn the tables on the Crows after they screwed us on Jacobs last year.

"He's only your 3rd-4th string key forward FFS"
That sort of thing ;)

(I'll bet they think Jacobs is worth a 1st rounder NOW )

Fev and Butcher to fight to the death for a spot in our team. Make it happen.

My money is on Butcher.
Fev would give up half way through. :o

There are oh so many things about him that I do not miss.
