Yeah we copuld have easily asked for Martin in the dawes trade or thrown in a exchange of latter picks .
But yep looks like Brisbane will get him at pick 33.
Just don't know what it is at collingwood but for some raeson aside from Jolly and monkey we have never been able to trade and get a strong athletic bullockling ruckman.
A big strong ruckman is crucial to premiership success, haven't collingwood learnt?
Look what monkhorst and jolly did for us.What about Ottens for geelong.Do you think we would have won the 2010 flag with Fraser ?Or geelong will those 3 flags without Ottens ?
fffsake! get a big bodied strong ruckman..............No wood is not the answer.
Availablities out there are scarce at the moment..........Martin? Stephenson ? Seaby ? Currie? Pederson(only a pinch hitter) these are the only options left we cannot rely on Jolly to carry us next year.
It's a f.......n glaring Deficiency.
And no Witts,Ceglar are no way ready they need another year or two !!!!!!! Besides Cegalr is too skinny he is not a ruckman but just a forward option.Witts will be good but he too is too young and has to learn how to pisition himself, needs more beef. Not ready yet!
Key point lost on many here. It's not a deficiency if Jolly holds up next year. And I doubt a player like West, McIntosh etc would leave their current club to play 2nd fiddle again and rot away in the reserves. Same goes with Pederson and Martin. If they go somewhere, it will be for opportunity. Not to be insurance.
I am pretty stunned the Saints gave up #13 for Hickey. Even with the bonus of an upgrade of some later picks. They got totally rolled on that one. This is the sort of thing that is going to make GC & GWS powerhouses - they trade their good young fringe talent for even better talent! GC could well end up with a potential superstar like Stringer at that pick.
These are the sort of deals the Pies need to meddle in so we could have landed a pick 13 upgrade. If the Saints want to get screwed so be it, but we can take a cut to - the GC doesn't need to have all the fun. I reckon our pick 21 would have got the deal done and with our 40s picks thrown in we could have got a better deal for the Saints while we get our upgrade.
I would prefer Warnock over both of them.
Watch this space about 1pm Friday.

Only if Tippett is going to the Draft. So you are saying Collingwood will have a late go at Warnock?
Only if Tippett is going to the Draft.
From what I have been told there is an inprinciple agreement re Warnock for one of our first rounders but Blues would only do it if they need to clear cap space for Tippett.
To be honest I think it is unlikely and a lot would have to fall into place for it to happen but its a possibility.
Maybe we had no real interest in Hickey.
The thing is our reported interest could've been motivated by wanting St Kilda to overpay so we can outbid them for another player from a different club, for instance.
We hear all kinds of rumours.
I don't think we had much interest in Hickey either, but we certainly should have been interested in getting the Saints pick 13 if they were that willing to part with it. I don't think we got involved in the Hickey deal at all. My point is we should have. By inserting ourselves as St Kilda allies rather than the enemy (by bidding against them) we could have shared some spoils. Instead GC runs all the way to the bank giggling.
We are not getting Warnock nor are we interested. We are however heavily into Trent West at the Cats. I believe one of our later picks or former Geelong Falcon Luke Rounds may be used to get the deal done. Rounds wants opportunity though, and I doubt he will get that at the Cats. Expect the Pies to add and descent big bodied ruckman to their list at the conclusion of the trade period as well as Jordan Russell on November first when the delisted free agency period opens.

some rumours going around that trent west from geelong his manager has spoken to the pies probably crap
Why do we want a 198cm ruckman? Why did Geelong recruit a ruckman last year and again this year to play no.1 ruck in their team? I don't get why we are after this guy. We have a 2nd ruck/forward. If West was going to be any sort of ruckman wouldn't Geelong have kept him? Please explain because it just seems like a waste of a spot on the list from where I am sitting. Surely we should have bid for McIntosh rather than this guy.
I'm not especially interested, but I'll take a shot at it for you:
I guess he is an able number 2 who, unlike Wood, can go forward and take a mark / kick a goal. Would give them another option if Lynch were injured or played as a permanent forward some weeks.
And that's about it.
I seriously doubt we would give a first rounder to Carltonn for Warnock. Seriously doubt....Exactly what the Blues wanted. Sign him up even though they know he will be 3rd in line at the Blues so they can trade him for a first rounder.
why would we be so stupid to fall for that?
God if we're going to give away another first rounder for a ruckman can we at least get one who is at least getting regular games at their current club.
Its like bloody groundhog day.
