Not throwing up any trade offers etc. as it's a waste of time - just interested to hear from you guys where he sits on the Fremantle list? Seemed starved a little for opportunities and he always seemed to exude a bit of talent. Cheers.

You sure? We're certain he's worth pick 4...

Throw in Pav and you have a deal! ;)

Seriously, all I want to know are the chances of him coming home to Victoria.

Basically sits as backup FF to Chris Tarrant. Won't get much of a go whilst Tarrant is doing at least semi okay.

With the right offer, I would think the club would trade him in a heartbeat. Not that he's crap, but he's lost his way a bit, and there are a lot of talls at Freo. In the best interest of club and player, he might be better off somewhere where he could get more opportunities - and we could maybe pick up the midfielders we need... either ready made or in the draft. Melbourne (for example) would either need to come up with a decent speedy midfielder aged under 25, or be prepared to part with their pick 21, I reckon.

If Taz was a full-forward that would be correct, but he's a half-forward. Murph and a lot of others seem to be using this idea as a convenient excuse for his poor season. The truth is he'd given up before the year even began - I don't think he touched the ball in the pre-season even before Taz was playing. McPharlin showed against Melbourne that there is more than enough room for 3 tall forwards in our forward line. Murph's only problem has been his attitude. I'd hate to see him leave - he will be a very good player if he goes elsewhere and we will have wasted 4 years developing him for someone else. He needs to stick around and fight it out for his spot next year - a change in attitude and he'll be an important part of our quest for a flag in '08.

in my opinion to get rid of murph would be a huge blue on the part of ffc
ive always been a fan since i saw him kick 5 goals for souths in pouring rain against claremont down here in denmark about 4 years ago,his last game this year against port saw him put in some good efforts all around the ground ,as has always been said on this thread ,why waste 4 years if development .the thing murph does for us in the fwd line is straiten us up ,his accuracy in front of goals has the eficiency that taz can only dream of,as i have said in previous posts on this topic my opinion is that we should play taz further up the ground on account of the fact that he ususally wins the hard ball and can deliver it to murph ,wiz, pav or mcpharlin and have murph as our other leading fwd

I think this was the exact thinking of the club too westy - the only downfall was that Murph didn't play his part.

sadly that is the truth... Murph really didn't grab his opportunities at all this year. After his barnstorming end to 2006 he was backed in as first choice FF for the entire pre-season, and as part of the forward rotation in the first game of the H&A. Problem was he did sweet FA in that time, and was then dropped for not performing... Then his WAFL form was pretty average until Jeffrey turned up at Souths, and started winning loads of ball and looking for him. Then each time he was recalled he again did bugger all (or got himself suspended). I think his best game for the season was Rd 22 against Port. And even that was just a good-average game.

I know - just like all of us do - that if he goes it will be viewed as "another Freo trade blunder". But he is expendable as we have a decent bank of talls - and if he can attract to us what we need (midfielders) and someone else can bring out his best... then surely that would be a win:win.

I find this comment a bit strange. Tarrant's possesion stats would be absolutely awesome if he was actually being played at Full Forward. He gets around 15 touches a game, and even with his inaccuracy, he would pop through three a game, six out on the full, and the remainder points, resulting in around 66 goals for the year. But the reality is, he doesn't play in that position. Full Forward is a vacant position at the Fremantle Football Club, and Murphy failed to hand in his application.

Pantera fan Cowboy?

What gave it away? ;)

A second round pick would sound about right to be honest. Heck, if McDougall can get a pick in the high 20's then Murphy is at least worth the same. Not sure if we will chase him as Bailey hasn't pruned the list or signalled his intentions for trade week yet, but I'd like to see him in our radar, especially with Neitz on his last legs. Cheers guys!

I'd put Graham and Murphy about on par... depends whether you need a back or a forward more...

Both played forward for your mob on Sunday and Graham was the better of the two. Graham is probably slightly ahead of Murphy but Spud has more upside IMO.

Murphy is a better chb than forward. Was recruited as a backman and woud be better suited down back.Reads the play well, booming kick.I feel he is unssure when/where to lead etc playing forward.I would regret trading him as i feel he could develop into a very good chb under harvey/wallis.

Not that it really matters but McDougall wasn't traded for a pick in the high 20s.

It was along the lines of McDougall + pick 43 for Pick 39.

McDougall was essentially given away, Murphy will actually be traded if he's not at Freo next year.

If you believe what is written on the Cokers board, then Spud and Duffield are in talks with them.

Personally i would rather he heads East, if in fact he does go.

Murphy would be a great pick up for the eagles, can't see the two parties coming to an agreement though.

Duffman wants to be a midfielder and is unhappy about his lack of opportunities. Why would he consider moving to the club with the most midfield depth in the competition?

I'd rather see Murph go anywhere than the weavils. Send him home if he wants out (I'd rather see him stay though). I hope Schwabbie keeps the 'no-trade' rule in place for them for a few years yet.

As Lach said in another thread, Duff's biggest skill seems to be his innovation in giving up the ball - to the opposition. If he can fix his disposal issues, he could be very good.

Will be interesting to see what happens as both are still under contract.

A Docker going to the Eagles??? It ain't gonna happen in today's world. Burn the houses down, torch the car, revoke their passports. Nah, you have more chance of the government making a decision on a new ground than those guys going to the scumbags.:thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:
