Salman Butt has apparently been cleared by the ICC to provide cricket commentary for the World Cup 2011.
Putting aside the ludicrous position taken by the ICC in granting this request, I can see the positives in this. Imagine the commentary...
"Well, India have stumbled along to 7-125 after 27 overs, chasing Pakistan's modest 232. Salman, your thoughts?"
"Well, Tony, I can see India winning this quite easily."
"What?"
"Quite easily. Pakistan's bowlers seem to be suffering. With Akhtar now finished for the day, I struggle to see where the wickets will come from.."
"But Salman, Shoaib still has 3 overs left..."
"No, I can see that he is injured, and won't bowl any more. And with Afridi's groin giving him no-ball problems.."
"He hasn't bowled a no-ball all day. Really, Salman. Back to the game. Afridi in to bowl.... and he's over-stepped the line. Free hit for India's Dhoni.... and the next ball comes down.. another no-ball, and Dhoni swings high to fine leg, in comes Akhtar, he should catch this... oh dear, Shoaib has pulled up lame, looks like a hamstring, and the ball drops safely and runs for 4... who could have seen this turn of events....??"
