Well, half time and it looks as though another Centrals v Eagles GF is on the cards. Yawn.

Anyway we have 5 Crows listed players in action.

Andrew McIntyre once again very ordinary. Started on Salter and had to be moved off him before half time. Tackled well which is encouraging but he blatantly pulled out of a contest late in the second term. Was moved off of Salter because we couldn’t keep up with him on the lead.

Bernie Vince has about a dozen possessions, most of which were clearances. No trouble finding the ball, but he needs to become more creative. Instead of just banging the ball on the boot he should try and look to run and carry. As soon as he has possession he just seems intent on getting the ball out of the area. If there’s no space then fine, but at least look for another option.

Nick Gill has about 10 possessions, plenty of free’s against and a lot of shots on goal. It’s pretty sad when a “cult figure” can’t even convert from 25 metres out on a slight angle. Anyway not a bad half from Gill.

Greg Gallman had some nice spoils but on the whole he’s struggled. Out-marked a number of times and he gave away 2 free kicks deep in defensive fifty because he couldn’t keep up with his opponent. Has found a bit of the ball but he needs to stick closer to his man.

Ken McGregor has performed a LOT better than last week. Kicked 2 goals and presented well.

You know your forward lines in strife when one of our main experienced KPP forwards has 2 goals at half time in the reserves and is praised for it.

I'm looking into my crystal ball.
Gill = Burton
The crowd at AAMI is demanding Gill be dragged for missing another shot on goal.

But burton is often one of the reasons we watch footy, he isn't a robot and does the exciting things and can also turn a match. Gills set shots were improving, don't know whats happening now.

McIntyre looks extremely average - his (non) attack on the ball in the last moments of the first half was embarrassing.
Gallman lacks strength. Maybe more a flanker than a KPP
Vince started to win plenty of the ball in the last 10 minutes of the half. Up until then was not really in the game.
Kenny continues to look pedestrian.
Gill also kicked one from 60, and nearly kicked goal of the year while lying on his back. You get the mercurial and the horrible, but at least its entertaining.

Is Salter worth a look in the draft?

Let's face it we love to recruit guys who technically are crap set shots (Perrie, Burton, Gill etc). I guess it's like Forests' mother says, kicking for goal "is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get".

The crows really need to get a specialist of some kind in to work on this over the summer, perhaps Steven, Johncock and Welsh could help, they are probably our best set shots.

Roo as goalkicking coach?

Having said that, even someone with D.Jarman's quality didn't improved things

I like Gallman

He's got 'something'.

He's not going to be a KPP, but I think he's got a future.

As for McIntyre, well :o. What happened?

I wonder if we're underestimating the effects of McIntyres broken leg? Might take him a year to properly recover.

What i like about Gallman... he isnt afraid to put his body on the line. Id keep him.

Be interested to see how he goes down back, given his speed and good foot skills.
Why would you turn a forward into a defender?

What is the fascination with turning forwards into defenders? Maybe to learn a thing or two when they're struggling but Salter is in fine form, you don't change his position just for the sake of it.

And yes Salter is most certainly worth a look. Only 19 I believe, and has the ability to win the ball off the deck and make something out of nothing. Also got great footy smarts.

imo salter may be worth a look, can kick it a fair distance and pretty quick for a big guy
Age might be an issue (20?). Also he's a little small for an AFL KKP (189 cm) and a little slow to be a mid-fielder. But looks better than McGregor:D

Age I don't think will be an issue (Gill) ....

Was going to ask his height .....189cm not bad ...he looks a footballer but what position at AFL level??

COME ON YOU ROOSTERS!!!!!!!

What a win, we showed our true spirit and came back YET AGAIN.

Centrals will probably beat us next week, but it's a great achievement to get there.
