You are dreaming –

Bode as a forward pocket is a good player and will make a difference. :thumbsu:
Welsh as a leading forward is way too erratic and inconsistent to make a difference during the finals. He needs the midfield to be on top before he can kick a few goals
Ricciuto – brilliant player but his body is nearly gone and we cannot control how long it will stand up for.
Burton – a fit Brett Burton will give our forward line plenty of spark and should be kept
Bock – not a natural forward, doesn’t have the endurance to make multiple leads and burn of his defender. Play him at CHB :thumbsu:
Perrie – not even going there

i said injuries permitting! not for this week.

we all know welsh only plays well against average teams... he is however THE most accurate kick for goal we have. (him and a fit roo).

kicking for goal, bock IS a natural forward. he is carrying a dodgy groin. and as for his endurance.. so... if he gets tired from leading himself... this is somehow scientifically different to the energy exerted from chasing an opponent on a lead up the other end..

If our injuries to big men are bad this week, then why not bring in Perrie and Meesen. Maric has proved he could play up forward, so Meesen could get a gig in the ruck.

Maybe Hudson 50% ruck time, Meesen 30% + 20% forward time, Maric 20% + 30% forward time.

OMFG why are you all insistant on playing a bloke who is not a forward in the forward lines when we have three forwards waiting particularly a bloke like Nick Gill who has just as good if not better claim then Meese on form! He is not a forward, if one of Maric or Huddo go down, yes give either him or Griff a game but seriously let go of the forward line and three ruckmen fascination!

The whole board should repeat after me:

"If He goes home, he goes home. No amount of gifted games is going to solve that"

Todays performance is exactly why we should od everything in our power to keep Meese. He was amazingly good. Although can someone introduce the lad to some steak? He needs some more body weight, but i'm sure that will come.

His movement is so smooth. He just does things that men of his size shouldn't be able to do. As in sell the dummy to much quicker and smaller midfielders and just waltz around him (he did this a couple of times today). If he wants to (this is they key), he could be anything.

Also great to see the Hound Dog out there today taking some notes. I suppose he's got to do something for a couple of months.

Darren Pfieffer was great. The confidence :thumbsu:

He wins his own footy, breaks tackles and his disposal is generally very clean. Takes em on, thats what I like about him.

Then give Nick Gill or James Sellar or any other forward a game. Just don’t bring the same old crap back in and ask us to believe that we have a legitimate chance at winning the premiership this year.

Scott Stevens goes to the same gym as me. I see him hitting the weights every now and then.

If you consider those would be extra weights on top of the ones he does at the club you've got to feel for the bloke being unable to put on any weight:eek:

I was sooo impressed with Meesens game today.

He seemed to be everywhere, and he dominated Cranston in the ruck, didnt dominate Sellar half as much, which is good.

The skills Meesen has for a big man are phenomenal. Really hope we keep him, I'm now officially a fan :thumbsu:

James Sellar worked tirelessly today for not much reward, but his work ethic was perhaps the best I've seen from him, and yet again he starred in the ruck.

Darren Pfeiffer - What a gun, along with Meese he was one of the Norwood players to really stand out today.

Hasn't he heard of HUNGRY ****ING JACKS ????

Agreed with the comment about his body, he needs more upper body strength. When you see him up close you see that he needs to add about 5kg's.

And as for that selling of the dummy, that was in the fourth quarter and it was superb. :thumbsu: Got the midfielder going one way, Meesen went the other. ;) As you said he did this a few times and his skills by hand are a big strength of his. :thumbsu:

The confidence is what I like best. He backs himself, and to be honest we have very few players who are prepared to do this. He breaks tackles and runs through packs, because he has the confidence in his ability.

Great game by these two today. :)

Agreed with your comments.

Meesen was very good, and I’m glad that someone else noticed him so people can’t claim I’m biased. His first half was a good a performance as I’ve seen from him. He really did dominate around the ground and he took about 5 marks in the first half alone, one a beautiful contested mark against Sellar and co. 10 metres out. He kicked two goals, won a lot of the ball, rucked well and all his disposals were on the money.

And I can’t say enough about Pfeiffer.

Not sure I agree that Meeson was the ants pants today, he (to me) doesn't seem to have a great footy brain, often running to where the ball aint any more or standing in a silly spot (deep inthe pocket) when the ball was getting kicked in from points.

The Bays only picked one ruckman today (Cranston) with Sell as back up, dropping Lachy Button (who got Bog in the reserves). Cranston was off for quite a while with a corky, Mickan praised Sell for his efforts when the game mattered.

I would be in favour of bringing meese in for forward rotations with maric IF we had a crumber. When you're 5-10cm taller than the defenders it should be much easier to draw even in marking contests, and bring the ball to ground. Again this is where the lack of a quality crumber (other than the sorely missed bode) hurts us.

Don't know how Meese would go in the forward line tbh.

If you want to bring in a taller forward, its Griff you want.

went along to the north game today...

gill had a game to forget, mcintyre similar, thought perrie was better and at least tried hard all game, too disgusted with our effort to write more.

at this stage in their career's I would have thought Maric's body and possibly meesen's better able to handle the crash and bash of a KPP role.

In the long run, yes I agree Griff would be much better suited.

You know what; I’m so fed up with the AFC being so conservative. Meesen played a great game today and sooner or later we HAVE to play him or else he’ll leave without making his debut in 3 years with the club. I heard that out of the 2004 draft he’s the only member of the top 20 not to make his debut. Injuries and form have prevented this from happening, as well as the conservative nature of this club.

Correct. And you'll be happy (well, not really) to know that from the 2005 draft, Pfeiffer is the only top-20 draft pick not to have played an AFL game.

I went to the Glenelg vs Norwood game on Sunday and these were my thoughts from the game

John Meesen- The best game i have seen him play. He took a number of marks, was pretty good in the ruck contests and it was good to see him playing up forward a bit as well. Took a nice mark on the lead and drilled it from about 40m.His skills were quite good as well and on the majority of occasions he hit the target. I was surprised he only had 12 possessions coz it fealt like he did a lot more than that.

Bryce Campbell - extremely impressed with his first half but seemed to drop out of the game a bit in the second half. This guy is extremely hard at ball, tackles hard, has good skills and in my opinnion would be a good replacement for shirley in the midfield. Also kicked a couple good goals. Just needs to get some more fitness back and he will be pushing for AFL selection. I really like the look of Campbell.

Darren Pfieffer - Was very impressive as well. From what i saw today the crows have a very good player for the future. He just needs to stay fit and get some match fitness back. He was everywhere today and whenever he got the ball it seemed to hit a target. This kid has class.

James Sellar - I thought he was okay but didnt really have any impact on the game. Took about 7 marks and played the majority up forward with brief spells in the ruck until Cranston got injured which meant he rucked most of the last quarter. Spent a bit of time on the bench as well. I would like to see Sellar spend more time in the ruck and spend the other half of the quarter up forward. At the moment he is definately a better ruckman and has a lot to learn about playing up forward. I think if he just plays up forward he will soon find himself back in the reserves. Two good qualities i noticed about him is he has a thumping kick on him and tackles very well. Definately going to be a good player of the future.

Hinge was average again and in my opinion i would delist him at the end of the year.

Just a side note i saw the the last quarter of the reserves and i was extremely impressed with the power list player Hugh Minson from Norwood. Boy can this kid play a bit.

Martin Mattner has made a strong case for a recall to the Crows side after an impressive performance for Sturt in the SANFL.

Mattner, who was left out of the Crows side that lost to St Kilda on Friday night, played in Sturt’s midfield and gathered 27 possessions – playing a vintage attacking game of football.

Adelaide’s Norwood representatives were in good form, despite their narrow loss to Glenelg. John Meesen returned to form in fine fashion, kicking two goals and amassing 20 hit-outs in the ruck and Darren Pfeiffer overcame a slow start to finish with 23 possessions. Luke Jericho’s work ethic was excellent and Bryce Campbell was also prominent gathering 21 possessions and laying 5 tackles.

In the same game, Glenelg’s James Sellar and John Hinge were solid performers. Sellar spent three quarters up forward and found the ball however moved into the ruck in the last quarter and had a significant impact on the game with nine hit-outs.

Jonathon Griffin had another high standard game playing in the ruck for Central.

For North Adelaide, Ian Perrie began in defence before moving forward with success, kicking three goals. Nick Gill wasn’t as influential as recent weeks however was still solid. It was a forgettable match for Andrew McIntyre, who was on the receiving end of a dominant performance from Port Adelaide full-forward Daniel Hargraves.

In the SANFL reserves, Rookies James Turner (South Adelaide) and Greg Gallman (North Adelaide) were both very good for their sides in defence.

Just have to say that that is the worst SANFL recap I have read. How exactly did Pfeiffer “overcome a slow start” when his first quarter was great; taking a beautiful pack mark and he had 14 possessions at half time? Slow start, yeah right. And Jericho had a mere 11 possessions and had no impact and yet his work ethic was excellent. Give me a break.

Agreed, there’s no way Meesen only had 12 possessions; would've been about 15. The Advertiser’s stats are never accurate anyway. Pfeiffer’s last half was every bit as good as his first so there’s no way he only had 9 possessions after half time. Anyway Pfeiffer was awarded the Legs best and rightfully so. :thumbsu:

The player stats in the advertiser are so inaccurate. For instance the paper said James Sellar had 7 marks (he didnt, he actually took 6) and im pretty confident he had more than the stated 8 possesions from the paper. I think he mayve had about 10 possessions. A few weeks ago the paper had Douglas down for about 20 odd possesions against Sturt and yet the Glenelg stat people had him down for 30.
