Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

oh and for the record no goddard. harry o will do that job for me at a discounted rate lol
I think it might be worth just giving it 1 more week and seeing what happens. You will be kick yourself if mal/swan got injured yeah? Then you will bur another trade. Just hang on for 1 more week it could pay off big tme.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I'm considering Gumby for Rockliff though, now that Buchanon is injured.

In regards to it, it would be foolish to make this trade straight away, and here's why (I'm in the same spot, hence the ramble).

Say Gumbleton improves a bit, and picks up 60 against Freo and Carlton respectively as bench scores. That'll be enough to give him roughly a 30k boost in salary. Assuming Rockliff plays round 2-4, he could get 150 each game, but the reality is, his price isn't going to change til the end of round 4. Therefore, assuming that you're not relying on Gumby to be on ground, you might as well keep him til the end of round 3, make at least a LITTLE money off time, and then jump on Rockliff. You'd end up making whatever Rockliff does, and an extra 30k or thereabouts.

At least, wait until the end of Round 2, and see what score he puts up, and what breakeven he needs for round 3.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

hi guys

This is my first season playing fantasy footy scored 2214 in the first round.
Been reading how valuable trades are but was thinking of doing the following for round 2

Kennelly -> Hunt/Malceski(to free up some cash)

Mitchelle -> Swan

The main reason is to get swan since he is playing the demons next week i would like to make him captain. Also dont think its likely Mitchelle is going to hav a god one against the cats.
I'm not sure whether the trade to get Swan is worth it, as Ablett would be the captain if i don't get Swan. I know its early but would be a once off trade don't plan on using more in the near future.

thx

Do you think that Mitchell will have a good run for the remaining 20 rounds after though?

Think long-term.

Madness. This from TooSerious:

Remember though, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
And because of that reason, please, at this point remember. Trades are precious. So don’t be wasting them now.
Don’t even *think* about using a trade in week one. Todays 150 could be tomorrows 50. And as we can all see in the calculator, this weekends score will only account for one week of salary movement.
So, unless you’re new to this place and are holding Presti, or an LTI pops up (and even then, waiting a week will provide important information), then *please* don’t trade yet!

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Just a question guys. When do player values begin to go up? I am seriously thinking of doing two trades this week.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Bugger it, let him trade early.. We know nothing lol

Haha, he could be a first yearer with very little idea on how to play the game. I'm only happy to give him decent advice - his call on whether to listen or not though :)

After the 3rd game, so at the conclusion of round 3 for those that have played the first 3 games. Remember though, that afrer the 3rd game the prices will adjust before you have a chance to trade, so next week is the last chance to trade before fluctuations

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Was keen to get some opinions about Robbie Gray and whether I should trade him, I ranked in top 2000 overall last week and want to improve on my position and dont know whether I can afford to keep him another week despite having Hitchcock (my other emg is Pods) coming off the bench as my Emergency.

From reports that I have read Gray is not going to play again this week, which gives me the feeling that this is more of a twinged hammy rather than missing one round for precautionary reasons; if he comes back in Rd3 you would think it be questionnable that he is going to hit top form immediately; I then need to wait an additional 2 week period before hie plays his 3rd game and his price starts fluctuation at end of RD5.

The other problem is, I have only $10k left over so I are unable to trade him for bluechip ie Pavlich, JB. So my options are:

A. I can either trade him for Shannon Byrnes (Cats have a good run after hawks and is likely to kick plenty of goals)
B. Look for a cheaper option ie. Betts or Waite and keep about 70k in the bank for when prices start fluctuating...
C. Hope Hitchcock stars and leave Gray smoking his pipe on the Emergency list.

Would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I'm in exactly the same position, except I copped a 0 this week for Gray so it really affects me (didn't get a chance to trade before the lockout). I'm looking at Byrnes or Betts, maybe even Medhurst or Robert Murphy. I don't want to trade this week, and I think he'll come good eventually, but if I don't do it now I'm going to be too far behind to do anything about it.

And the fact that the Geelong game isn't until Monday (Pods on bench) and so won't know the lineups before this week's lockout means I can't really risk it again.

Sucks, you can't go for Hitchcock or something? I really like Robbie Gray, and I've got Hitchcock, so I'll keep him, but a thought...

What do you know? MPP WOULD be useful in situations like this, with all the Midfield depth and the lack of forward depth.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

dammit...need hitchcock to firee howdo you he'll miss another round?

Robbie Gray (back/hamstring) - test

Everything I've read suggests he'll miss another week eg: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/91362/default.aspx

Agreed, if I had another MPP mid/forward, it would be quite good. Tried to pick value rather than MPP though.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I think I am going to trade Byrnes in, I did consider doing this at partial lockup and it has cost me 56 points by not doing so - (playing Hitchcock 75 pts) instead of trading Byrnes (131 pts)

However, I dont think I can leave a blue chip player on the bench through injury, especially a hamstring injury (I am not sure if Gray has done his hammy before in the past?) - Byrnes is a bit of a downhill skier as well and the Cats have a sensational draw early post Hawks this week could be some strong capital appreciation.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I kept Gray for round 1, and was happy enough to carry him this week as well, until I read on the WC board about a possible Le Cras injury. My bench players are Hitchcock and Roberts, and I assume Roberts position is somewhat tenuous this week, meaning a possible on-field zero is looming. I scored well in round 1, and want to stay in the hunt. Is a trade worth considering this week, or should I hold my nerve?

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

The only trades I'd consider making after round 2, depending on performances is:

Gram for someone like Harry O which would free up cash, however could be risky which is why I want to wait another round. Gram is fairly consistant and will hover in the 70s maybe the occaisonal 80 however not big scoring. Harry O has shown an ability to get high scores, however can be used to execute a lockdown role and his history shows that he can also get scores in the 50s and 60s. So it's a risk v reward decision, which is why I want to wait another week. Be interested in other's thoughts on this.

Also if Gray's hammy issues persist I may consider trading him after round 3 when I see what price fluctuations happen (premiums are likely to drop unless they start with all guns blazing).

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Only thing I'm contemplating is Gumbg for Hitchcock if he has another stinker. Neither are starting but might be worth using a trade for significant extra cash.

Agreed. I also think Gram will bounce back vs Roos this week. Expect a 100 from him or there abouts
