Yep. Had quite a few suspicious enquiries.

my mate got that one. What she does is she sends you 2 months rent in US travellers checks, but her paymaster ****s up and sends you her airfare as well. So you are supposed to cash in the checks and send her her airfare and keep the rent.

Then they are of course stolen, so the bank reclaims their money from you...

My mate didn't fall for it, but did get the checks. They look legit, but some interwebs research quickly found out what the deal was

Yeah I strung them along for a while just ****ing them around asking stupid questions and saying ridiculous shit about myself that would have scared anyone else off from my first email. Managed to get them to mail the cheques to me at 2 different false addresses before they cracked the shits and stopped emailing me.

speaking of scams...

This hottie just added me on Facebook. I don't know her, but I look like fun from my Facebook photo apparently.

I'm in!!

Heh I got added by a screamer because I looked sexy in my profile photo.

My photo was Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force drawn with Dragonball Z hair.

I had read about this only a few days ago and just got a call then. Some indian chump (no indie) will ring you up and say he is from microsoft and then proceed to tell you to run some bullshit. I pretended to do what he said then exploded and told him to f*** off with his scam and that I back-traced him and to come at me. His insults were "you are a bastard, a son of a gun".

They rang me the other day saying that something had been downloaded to my computer which was making it slow but they were here to help me. They asked me to go to explorer and when i told them that i use a mac they were like "oh, sorry we got the wrong information"

anyway, i was curious to see where this scam was going so i told them that i have a windows work laptop but that there was no way the security on it would allow them to do what they needed to do.

What low lifes.

When these telemarketers ring I just put my 4 year old son on the phone he likes to chat to them.
one of the many reasons i want a child (not yet)

when they call sometimes if my dogs there i make her bark into the phone until they hang up

I just hang up while they're mid-sentence. But I don't have a kid or a dog, that sounds like fun.

Because they use a headset you can sometimes create a feedback loop on some model cordless phones by holding the handset just over the receiver - I used to do it just to hear them scream.

I like to play 'reverse prank call', by claiming I ran into a car, but it wasn't really there because it was a Mirage, and whether they think I have a case to sue Mitsubishi...I can keep it up for ages

When you get one of those annoying phone calls it's fun to just put the phone down and walk away, don't hang up, just put it down.

If I've got time on my hands, I like to go along with them right until the end then pull the pin. I get calls from some mob that offers free travel vouchers for attending a travel seminar, I said I would go but when they went book me in I said not on that day. They had another session but I said not at that time, then I told them I had changed my mind :D

The ones that come to the door selling utilities etc. I like to pwn by showing them the rates I get at the moment are better. Did buy some car service coupons (saved me 100's) & switch electricity once with door to door salesmen though, got a 14 day cooling off form with the latter but didn't use it.

A few simple remedies to rid yourself of Cold Callers.

  • First add your number to the do not call register- its works
  • If you answer the phone and there is any type of delay when you say hello - hang up as its an auto dialer and the call doesn't register with operator at the other end until you answer (usually 1-2 second delay)
  • If you do end up speaking with them and you are on the do not call register, ask them for their company details and tell them you are on the do not call register, they hang up straight away.
otherwise any of the other "play their games on yours terms" suggestions are good fun if you have the time and energy:D

This is my one as well. Just let them get into the flow of their sales pitch, put the phone down and go back to whatever I was doing. Come back half an hour later and hang up.

I like to ask them how they are? Say I haven't heard from them in a long time. Use their name as often as possible. Find out what they have been doing, etc.

Operator: Good afternoon sir, my name is Rashid* are you Mr Tants?
Tants: Rashid, so good to hear from you. How long has it been?
O: Oh, Mr Tants, I am calling from XXXXX and i'm here to help.
T: Rashid, it always the same with you. Always work work work. So, tell me how are the family? Mum and Dad doing well? I've been meaning to give them a call.
O: Oh, Mr Tants, I am from XXXXX company and...
T: Don't worry Rashid we can talk work later. What are you up to this weekend? Are you going to the party.
O: <Hangs up>

* Not always called Rashid.

my all time favourites are the put the phone down and walk away see how long they wait for you.

in terms of door to door sales I was 'housesitting' for my parents one time and some bloke came to the door I answered and my brother was in the background.

bloke: Hi how are you today i'm from xxxxxx
me: um yeah we don't live here....
bloke: oh can you get the owner for me please i have a great opportunity for them
me: yeah they aren't here....
bloke: oh well do you know when they will be returning i can come back then?
me: no sorry I don't, we are just grabbing and tv and xbox then we are going can you give me a hand to take some shit to the car?

never seen a door to door bloke dissapear so fast had my brother in tears laughing.

the other good one especially when utilities blokes ask to see your bills and stuff make up fake laws and fines for individuals requesting to see private information the look on their face is priceless.

I love when these bastards call.

Always play up with them, put the phone down, scream down the line, tell them your a computer engineer and they'll shut up and shut the phone. :thumbsu: Always work with me!!

When I was house-sitting my brother's place once, I signed up for all sorts of things.
