Byron Schammer, Fremantle, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence against Marc Murphy, Carlton, during the fourth quarter of the Round Seven match between Fremantle and Carlton, played at Gold Coast Stadium on Saturday May 9, 2009.
In summary, his carry-over demerit points from within the last 12 months means that his one-game sanction cannot be reduced with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has 70.31 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 195.31 points and a one-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent, to 146.48 points and a one-match sanction.

There was hardly anything in it. Pissweak. It was a silly punch by Schammer, always at risk of a suspension if the tribunal felt like picking up on it, especially with his prior record.
Can't get 2 weeks, so might as well challenge.
We'll definately challenge since there's no risk of 2 weeks but hard to say what aspect we can argue with. It was intentional, low impact and to the body.
weak as, freo will challenge and win.
if marc murphy didnt fall down like a bitch then nothing ever would've happened.

Agree anti. The fact his Murphy is a little baby and couldn't handle Schammer annoying so he punched Schammer. Schammer being the hard arse he is (compared to Murphy) stood up to it and then when Murphy got his back he falls over like a little Bitch!!
If schammer is reported fine, but atleast report Murphy for doing the same thing/starting the fight.

Pathetic suspension, the club has to challenge this.
Schammer has really stood up this year, would be a huge hole with the players already out if he was to be rubbed out for a week as well.
and further contact between Carlton's Murphy and Fremantle's Schammer was also reviewed and did not constitute a reportable offence
