Shocked that the apologists ITT refuse to address the fact that he actively tried to hide the trip. That is the egregious point out of all of this.
Cause it is protocol. Why would anyone think it is in the best interest of the Prime Minister or nation to tell everyone where he is visiting and when as it can lead to his safety wellbeing being put at risk.

Am I going crazy or is there a long history of Aussie PMs who disclosed this kind of information? It's not like he had to tell us which flight he was on, which room he was staying in. Just the PMO saying "yes, he is on holiday". As far as I'm aware there is generally a statement regarding the DPM acting as PM too.
Why would he be so coy and secretive if it was a good idea?
