No one can sue a dead person - anonymously drop the letter.

Dropping the letter and naming names before any official police action could affect any future attempt to convict this current cabinet minister. The legal defence could argue that their client wouldn't have a fair and impartial trial.

ALL governments should be held to account. You can't pick and choose.

Society is a long way off from the golden years when people sacrificed themselves for their country.

Honestly, I think people are ******* stupid and I no longer have faith in humanity. I'll look after myself from hereon in. I'm not even apologetic for that stance. Unionism is dead, accountability in government is dead. We're on our own.

Voting for the greater good isn't sacrificing yourself for the country. It's using your vote in an attempt (as vain as you think that attempt may be) to both create a better country for the now and leave a better country for future generations.

And voting according to your own personal principles is fine as well - I am no fan of the ALP, but you couldn't pay me to vote LNP, because they go against virtually everything I personally stand for.

Now, if you want to vote exclusively on what is best for you, that's your choice as well. But it's a pretty short-sighted, narrow approach to take in my view.

Voting to me is about balance. Of course I am going to think how I am directly affected, but I will certainly (and strongly) take into account the other aspects I've mentioned above.

So to answer your question, it really has to start with what you want to do with your vote. If it is solely for self-interest, going by the limited information you have given, it looks like the LNP are your go, because that's a large part of what they are about.

If you want to try and make a better country, if for no-one else than your own kid(s), I wouldn't touch the LNP with a 10 foot pole (or a 6 foot Yugoslav). And realistically that makes the ALP the only other voting option under our system the way it is.

Their approach to a changing climate alone means you shouldn't vote LNP, because it means they simply don't care what state they leave the planet in for future generations - including your own kids and descendants.

There is not going to be police action.

The likelihood of success for a historical rape allegation is low already. It is almost zero when their is no victim (deceased).

The coroners report in SA is not going to name names.

If the LNP win next election Australia will be very isolated world wide on climate change action. Scotty will not be able to handle the heat of major world leaders hounding him.

The fact that you mockingly referred to "outrage" about the issue really showed you up mate.

I've got a very good female friend who was r*ped and such is her trauma that I doubt that she will ever be the same again.

The fact that the poor woman in this particular case was still struggling with her alleged rape 30+ years down the track, plus the fact that she committed suicide (with the alleged rape more than likely playing a big part in that), plus the fact that the multiple alleged perpetrated by the LNP staffer seem to have been treated so appallingly by the government means we should all be outraged - including you.

Just throwing out something for discussion to see if this thread has something to offer beyond outrage. I'm a family man with no debt, my employment is rock solid, and I derive a portion of my income from investments.

Same reason you should vote for LNP, Greens or anybody else. None of their policies are gonna make any difference to you personally in your situation.

Took me 30 minutes to work out who both the victim and her alleged rapist were after reading the article you refer to about 40 minutes ago.
All using google and public info on the internet (without the help of social media or forums to validate anything).

Anyone else worked it out 100% from this article?

Please don't publish your findings (privacy etc etc). Leave that up to the Coroner, Police, family, main stream media etc.

I think I know who he is and how they met. I am not sure about her yet.

the trade off with a democracy is you put immediate vengeance aside for stability of transition. Do you really want to copy central america and the middle east for how they run their democracies?
