The band have come out and said it's basically nonsense, with the guitar "easy" as they were trying to make something the label would hate and was a departure from what they were doing. They expected it to fail and be disliked, it wasn't, they loved playing it since it was easy and fun but there's no literal meanings to the lyrics.

Otherwise say checking heads and coloured pills generally mean drug use lyrically.
