Selection dilemnas for next week?

Gee, it seems like there are a few difficult choices to make at the selection table for next week.... King, Rooke, and David Johnson to come back from injury? Aren't both Kelly and Stokes due back from suspension? People were wanting Djerrkera in the team too. Blake did okay in the ruck this week to by all reports, and even Charlie G did some good things. At this stage I think King and one of either Kelly or Stokes would come in, but I am not sure for who. What are your thoughts?

Kelly and Stokes in for Selwood and Varcoe? It's a toughie. I'd give Kingy and Rooke a go in the magoos first, to get some fitness. Charlie G deserves to be kept, but it'd be handy if we could work in Djerrkura as well.

I agree with rizzo. Why make any changes? I can't see who you would drop tonight to make way for any of those guys. How stupid would it be if we made four or five changes to a side that won by 13 goals? If the form warrants it, they should be in the seniors, but I can't think of one player tonight who didn't play his part tonight, therefore the only way a player should be replaced is through injury or suspension, and I doubt we'll have any of those out of tonight's match.

understood, but his still our number one ruckman, but im all for keeping Blake in there, he done well tonight but wasen't up against Cox, Everitt, Simmons, Jolly, Lade, Sandilands or another top ruckman.

I think Ottens is. King hasn't played a full, decent game in years.

If King is brought back it has to be for Blake. Swap him and Ottens off the bench and leave the young guys in the forward line. Worked OK tonight and they'll only get better.

Thompson said in the press conference that King was our No.1 ruckman. Surely even he realises that Ottens is ahead of him.

Play Ottens there as much as possible.

It's been reported in the press that Bomber has said that King may come back through the VFL so he can get it right before the big stuff.....this may in fact be the first indication that Kings ruck position is in fact a bit shaky.

Not currently. Kelly is still better than Selwood, though probably by next year the young'n will have the edge. Same for Stokes vs. Varcoe. Although Varcoe is more of a natural crumber, which is useful in the absence of SJ.

The one change I'd like to see next week is the inclusion of Djerrkura.He could replace Gardner.With Hawkins,NA,Mooney and at stages Ottens up forward,we need some quick players at their feet.

Byrnes is the other player that needs to lift his game or he'll be overtaken by Varcoe,Djerrkura and Selwood.

Varcoe's goal celebrations are better than Stokesy's!

Loved how he jumped up in Mooney's arms and gave him a hug after he kicked his first, and his general excitement after he kicked his second was priceless!

Ottens is far more valuable in the ruck than Kingy. Ottens is more mobile and agile generally around the ground that Kingy is ever likely to be again. I really think we should leave Otto in the ruck. I also thought Blake lifted last night and had a fairly good game.

You've gotta leave that 3 man tall forward line in - Hawkins, Nath and Mooney the king!! I don't think Stokes is eligible until round 5. Rooke would have to go through the VFL for a match at least as he hasn't even played any practise matches, but it would be great to have him out there. Maybe we should keep Varcoe in next week to counter Davey? Maybe Djerrkura for Charlie, but I doubt Charlie will get dropped.

Fantastic game last night, almost a dream game with Tomahawk, Selwood and Varcoe all playing. Tommie - 3 goals 2 behinds and LOOKED A NATURAL!!!

Blake only did OK because he was up against nothing in the ruck. He got mauled by the bigger Bulldogs' ruckmen last week.

Ottens is number one ruck.Has also been a liability when the ball goes to ground, other teams run it out too easily. Much prefer our new setup, with Donnie Varcoe sure to improve over the next few years. Go cats!
