Why would a player want to protect themselves if there is potentially a free kick in it for them if they don't?

I’m struggling to see what Setterfield did wrong here. No secondary slinging motion. No arms pinned. You don’t just suspend someone because a bloke got knocked out. You’ve got to suspend them for doing something wrong.

Hope Carlton appeal this crap.

Absurd decision.

Unfortunate for Powell and you never want to see players get injured, but this was literally a perfect tackle.

I’m so disappointed we didn’t challenge the decision.

I'm not disappointed in the lack of appeal because i wanted setterfield available - odds are he would be rested.....i'm more annoyed that we've accepted a decision which now sets a terrible precedent for the rest of the season.

Still staggered that a bloke reaching up from the ground to tackle a bloke gets double the penalty a bloke gets for running past and swing an elbow at someone's jaw

I don’t understand how the game is adjudicated anymore.
I don’t understand why it is umpired the way it is, I don’t understand how a legitimate tackle can result in a two match suspension.
And I’ve played and watched the game for more than 40 years.

Not sure who the player was but there was a tackle on Ridley in the second half today that was very similar to Setterfield’s. Commentators mentioned he was visibly shaken as he got up but think he played out the game.

Will it get looked at? Should atleast be analysed if the AFL wants to stay consistent, or are we only punishing KOs?
