Geez Chelsea heights were horrible against Rye.
They will say they had plenty out but geez showed how much they rely on Tappy.
No supporters watching them , reckon they are hanging on.
If you are a young kid in the area you would go to Chelsea or Edi Asp.
Interesting couple of years for them I reckon

Chelsea battling too after their Seniors. Had no u19s last year and Reserves missed finals. I reckon at some point in time the Seagulls and the boys from Tractor Park merge.
Hope did Rye look? I expect them to improve a fair bit this season and win a few more games…possibly just miss finals!

You are right about Chelsea but they have plenty of money and now also have the seniors working with the juniors on a better pathway. Long term they will fix the 19’s issue .

Rye looked good and moved the ball well , think they will be middle or the road but seem to be building it nicely . Had plenty of numbers which is a very good starting point

Good to see! Moorey is a good coach so it’s good to see them building and challenging. Rye have been down for quite some time.

Yep agree. He’s taken on some almighty tasks in the past 5-6 years and to take on Rye and rebuild + add some respectability back to a club in a tough area with rosebud and Sorrento , hats off. Hopefully they climb the ladder this season

East Malvern v Whitefrias (VAFA) this Saturday at Whitefrias college in Donvale.

Interesting opposition Div 2 Ammos (5th Division).

Massive ground with proper 50m arcs, will certainly test out how good the pre season has been. From experience BYO food if you're going out for a look.

They around beat whitefriars by 100 points you'd imagine. Interesting going with such a low division opposition. Will definitely get confidence up for them. That's no disrespect to Whitefriars, but E.M should be aiming for a C grade team to be a properly suited opponent

If Chapman leaves Doveton, they drop a considerable amount. I believe Chelsea Heights whilst not recruiting much, have the divisions best player in Tapscott and he will dominate. Caulfield I have sneaking into the top 5 because I know they have a couple of recruits they haven't announced and one being a league best and fairests winner from wodonga. Frankston have recruited well and will hold there own quite comfortably. Mordi are a tough one, recruited a million players and some half decent but are coming from a long way back in the field and lost there best player in Grech. Keysy have bought a couple players back and will possibly cause an upset or 2. Highett and Endeavour I believe will struggle with loss of players and also depth.
clearances list on SFNL website has quite a few CH ins (particularly from chelt), does anyone know if any of them are any good?

Not that I've heard of. They apparently got convincingly beaten by Rye on the weekend. But they could have been missing quite a few. I dont see them challenging this year unless Tapscott kicks 100 goals out of the midfield

Good it’s up to read again no don’t know any of Chelsea recruits myself but noticed Caulfield seem to have a fair few going out

Surprised they haven't knocked on the door of De La Salle for a hit out. While De La are in premier division they were runner up in B and aren't as strong as their division/grade ranking would suggest.

Agree. Unless there are some long-standing arrangements between the clubs, why would EM play against a team that was mid-tier in the 5th division of the VAFA. Plenty of other better credentialed VAFA clubs nearby who I’m sure would be happy to accommodate them.

Any results from the weekend?
Think Doveton got beaten easily by St Paul’s as you would expect being a good div1 side Doveton are definitely struggling for numbers they rang a m8 of mine who retired 2 years ago at age 48 and asked would he be keen to comeback and play 2s to help them out this year Hampton park got beaten by roughly 6 goals by Devon meadows both sides were missing around 8 senior players roughly meadows have a great midfield 2 league medalist and dean kent plus some good kids and Hampton park held there own against them but they were to quick meadows had a a few more on the bench in both games as they gave a few u/19s a run which helped them run out game better but they were in front all day buy 4 or more goals anyway

Dolphins played a VAFA divison 1 (division 4) club POB. Dolphin seniors beaten comfortably and reserves was a good hit out as expected
You could tell differences between leagues POB extremely well drilled from watching and didn't waver from structure all day Ruckman 6'6 was to much to handle for dolphins young team, heaps of good young talent that will give opposition headaches if they all stick fat for another 1-2 years

Any other results from the weekend ?

Outside of the Dolphins v Old Boys ?

Rumours seem about right around Doveton, looking forward to getting a look on them at somestage early

East Malvern / Whitefriars ?

Hampton Park by the looks lost to Devon

any word out of Keysborough ?

Highett?

am interested to hear about Malvern, do they level up to the hype?

East Malvern and Hampton Park likely grand finalist. Spending plenty but smart inclusions. Both sides may lose only a couple of games!Big gap to the rest.

Agree. I think at this stage if HP (Favs IMO) goes up, then div 2 will be a more open comp in 2026
