Cranbourne to get the choccies against the dingoes. Dingley have limped into finals with some questionable results.

Springy ends Ports season on Sunday… If Springvale get out to a 3-4 goal lead I can see Port turning on one another and losing their heads.

Chelt still the team to beat.

Also 4:50pm 2s game on the saturday! Twilight footy at RSEA will be a treat.

In the magoos my money would be on Bentleigh. Only due to the fact their opposition in finals will have their 1s playing too. Big advantage.

This year Cheltenham surely takes it out!

I feel Dingley will go out in straight sets .

Springy will go well on the big deck !

Unless it's wet I can't see any one going near Cheltenham this finals series !

And if they do choke again I fell a lot of players may move on

Think cranny’s best can equal Cheltenham’s best so will come down to the day .
Chelt play at the same level all year, but do they have gears like we do ??

Watched the clash at start of year at Cranny. Chelt supporters were getting ahead of themselves already. Had to move to outer wing at 1/4 time. Hate seeing grown men cry. Cranny seem to lift in big games especially when the underdog. If these two teams make it, it should be a ripper again.

Where would the players move on to ? Suburban weekend players Draft ? You play footy with your mates and your Club. A few get paid too much for sure but plenty of teams have lost Grand Finals when favourites and Chelt is in it again so see what happens

In the Grand Final again? I thought they still need to win a game to be there.

Anyone have any details on st kilda city ruckman getting arrested after a game for belting someone? The leader posted something earlier but now can’t see it

Have been to both the Chelt games, the Good Friday game at our ground and the game at their ground.
Didn’t see any of them getting ahead of themselves, travelled in good numbers and were great and when we went to their ground they were very accommodating. Impressed by them as a club and the way they have welcomed us.
Happy to beat them again though !

A former AFL and NRL-listed player has been arrested over an alleged assault after a Victorian amateur football match on Saturday.

Shem Tatupu, a former Hawthorn rookie and Frankston VFL player, was arrested at Waverley Oval in East Malvern over an incident that followed a finals clash between Elsternwick and Hawthorn in the Division 3 section of the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

It’s alleged Hawthorn star Justin Raiti was assaulted.

In a statement, Victoria Police said: “Police attended and arrested a 27-year-old Keysborough man and interviewed him for assault-related matters.

“He has been released pending further enquiries.’’

Hawthorn won the match. Raiti – who has kicked 68 goals this season – was named in the best players

Hawthorn president Sam Waldron told the Herald Sun the player allegedly assaulted was checked by paramedics at the scene but was not required to be taken to hospital.

“From our perspective our player is OK, most importantly,” he said.

“All our players are fully supported by our club.

“We won a game of footy and we’ve been promoted to Division 2 and we’ve got a grand final in two weeks.”

A spokesman from Elsternwick said none of its members were involved in the incident.

“In respect of the incident alleged to have occurred following a VAFA semi-final at the Waverley Park Oval the Elsternwick Football Club can advise that no club members or players were involved in the matter,” he said.

“As the matter is currently the subject of an active police investigation, Elsternwick Amateur Football Club will not be commenting further on the matter.”

The VAFA said: “The VAFA confirms there was an off field incident following yesterday’s Division 3 men’s game between Elsternwick AFC and Hawthorn AFC, played at Waverley Park, Malvern, involving a spectator and a player.

“Police attended the venue and took the spectator away for questioning. The player was assessed by paramedics on the scene and was cleared to be taken home.

“As this is now a police investigation, the VAFA will make no further comment at this stage.’’

Multiple sources present confirmed Tatupu is the spectator in question.

Hawthorn recruited Tatupu as a Hawthorn category B rookie at the end of 2013 and he spent two years with the Hawks, playing for Box Hill Hawks’ senior and reserves teams.

From New Zealand, Tatupu had been a highly-rated rugby league and union player before joining the AFL club.
He also had a rookie stint at NRL club Melbourne Storm and joined Frankston Dolphins in the VFL in 2019.

Tatupu played with St Kilda City in the Southern Football Netball League this year and was touted as a league medal favourite before injuring his knee.

Obviously not all of their supporters, 4 x 50 y.o. just having a conversation next to me about how Cranny would struggle and how well they were placed and should have a comfortable win, then by quarter time when Cranny had held them kicking with the gale force wind, they had started to "bag" some of their players efforts. Why i moved to opposite side by myself. I'm not tarring all Rosella supporters with the same brush, just what i saw and heard on the day.

Pines (MPNFL) out in straight sets, condolences to Potts, Edwards and Swan who made the mid-season switch, probably summed up St Kilda City more than Pines. Throwing $100 bills on bonfire would have been better!

Cracking game today at Linton St.
Can't remember the last time a Divvy 1 final went to extra time...
Cranbourne V Dingley was a phenomenal game too, went down to the last 5 seconds as siren went as Dingley had the ball in their goal square, had a shot smothered off the line.

Side note twilight footy at RSEA is a treat. Had a very pleasant time watching the Dees and Eagles run around in the magoos. Great crowd. SFNL should look to make it a regular thing.

I watched this game and all 3 had zero impact on the game. Edwards was blanketed and swan looked injured and not interested. Potts tried hard but was beaten

Aaron Edwards is highly rated at Pines FC from his years of playing Seniors and especially the work he did with Pines Juniors/Auskick , think Potts has a link to Pines from before too

At 1/4 time I thought they were done but they rallied the troops and were the better team for the next 3 quarters.

SFNL may not be the strongest competition but playing finals at RSEA will slowly become a huge drawing card.

Happy to eat my words in what was a great game of footy!

Every club has supporters like that at every game.
Like this rain to continue for the weekend ..
