Wallis king hit him, and Denham (2nd only to Libba for dirtiest player of that era) fell over whilst trying to catch diesel.Buddy, there was no King Hit - I was 15 metres from the incident and Wallis simply leapt into Hanna from the side - his shoulder making contact with Hanna's head.
There was no King Hit at all.
Wallis would be booked today for jumping off the ground but back then, it was a perfectly legal, and incredibly effective move.
I still dont know why Scum fans whinge about it anyway as surely having a hack of Hanna's quality off the ground was doing you a huge favour.
Oh by the way, did you Carlton idiots ever stop to wonder why Sean Denham had a broken nose at the end of that game??
Does the phrase, 'Greg Williams you Dirty Dog" ring a bell???
I guess in your mind Carlton won the GF as well.Wallis king hit him, and Denham (2nd only to Libba for dirtiest player of that era) fell over whilst trying to catch diesel.

So are you saying Norm Smith wasn't a great coach then? 6 premierships in 10 years not good enough for you?
Well in all honesty...what Sheedy did in 1981 is arguably the equal of what Smith for South in 1970 when you look at it that way.
Remember Essendon had 1 out of the first 6 that year. How does a team go from that position to winning its next 15 straight? Takes a fair bit of coaching.
Yes, Royal One. As always you remain above it.
I wasn't born in the nineteenth century, but imho Jack the Ripper was probably a nasty bit of work.
This isnt about Walls v Sheedy. How many of you idiots have actually read the article.
Walls 'job' last week was basically about writing an article per day on the coaches percived to be under pressure this year.
Understandibly they were all negative, and Sheedy took exception to Walls picking out coaches, young and old, and criticising them.
Thats the issue. Sheeds went off on a bit of a trail talking about winning % etc.
But if walls wants to sit in the stands and slag of 50% of coaches in the league for there tactics/records, and attitudes, then They have the right to use his coaching record to fight back.
This Carlton v Essendon thread is why bigfooty is full of nothing discussion.
Stepping outside the comfort zone & coaching a battling side to finals, that is the measure of a elite coach.
I don't care who you are, but when you coach only at one club, a powerful club, we need to keep that in mind.
We were a battling side. For all the good players we had back then - we had quite a fair few blokes who shouldn't have been getting games at the same time...Michael Thomson and Mark Eustice to name just a couple!
yup, we've got live one here.
thanks genius![]()
Easy, don't get upset. Kudos for managing to avoid telling me that I couldn't have the opinion because I wasn't born then, it must have been awfully tempting.
So sheedy's record is somewhat downgraded on the basis he didnt get the arse from his plush digs at napier st and take control of an absolute rabble?
I would have thought his ability to stay in the same job for 20+ years earns him extra credibility like you give coaches who do the job in multiple places and situations.

"At least Tim Watson sugar-coats his hand-grenades from the cubby house.
you get extra points for staying in a comfort zone.
which government dept do you work for?![]()
