Should we Rookie list Lovett?

Could easily go on the wing for us as that skillful lightning quick outside midfielder. Imagine Lovett and Smith tearing up either wing for us in tandem.

Says he is very passionate to get back into the game and would play for peanuts on a clubs rookie list.

Surely he is someone we would look at especially as we are in our premiership window.

A year out of the system, with attititude and discipline issues. After the Peterson and Hooper recruiting failures, I seriously doubt we would consider Lovett. Further, We have Clinton Young remember.

From what I saw he was overrated at Essendon, no doubt he could be brilliant at times but went missing a lot and not just on field.

Would be wary. It's a pretty strong no from me

I am not convinced this guy is such a bad egg.

He may have been an arse-wipe in the past but I think recent events would have scared the hell out of him.

I would be inclined to take a punt in a rookie draft.

NOt if he is rookied.

We cleared out Milne, Bruest, Sierrakowski, Menegola and Johnson from the rookie list. There has to be a couple of spots available.

I wonder what the statute of limitations on him taking St Kilda to court for unfair dismissal would be.

I think if he doesn't get picked up he will head to the courts to get some money.

He has probably held off to not discourage clubs or the AFL, it will come though I reckon.

Not many Essendon supporters were sorry to see the back of Lovett. Hawthorn has already been dudded once with an Essendon re-tread who turned out to be rubbish. Let's not make the same mistake again.

I agree with this. 29 years old, discipline issues and you need to find a balance on your list between now and tomorrow. Go to the rookie draft draft 3-4 of the kids that were unlucky to miss out(Mihocek, frost etc) re-rookie PJ as insurance and win the next 3 flags.

Just wondering who the re-tread was? Danny Jacobs?

I agree with this. 29 years old, discipline issues and you need to find a balance on your list between now and tomorrow. Go to the rookie draft draft 3-4 of the kids that were unlucky to miss out(Mihocek, frost etc) re-rookie PJ as insurance and win the next 3 flags.

On pure football ability, any team would be crazy not to rookie list him.

But has a lot of baggage with him. Probably too much for most clubs. Who knows if he has sorted out his off field issues or not.

If you knew for certain he has, you would have to pick him up. He could be just what we need to top us off.

If only we could lock him up and only let him out for training and game day haha.

In all seriousness I'd rather David Gourdis 193cm 93kg 22yo FF/CHF/CHB/FB a versatile player. I reckon he is worth a rookie spot.

Our 4 Picks Should Be:

Pick 1 P.Johnson (Ruckman)
Pick 2 D.Gourdis (Forward/Defender)
Pick 3 Young Midfielder
Pick 4 Young Small/Medium Forward (Carl Petersen an option)

Gee, that's what I have been saying: one of Mihocek/Frost, shane nelson/waldhuter, Paul Johnson and perhaps a ready made fwd like Spur or instead of Mihocek/Frost a ready made big guy like brad magan, 190cm, 95 kg with speed. Anyway, few options there.

I wonder when someone is going to do a new thread on who should we pick on rookie list. Is it too early or people don't think it is important?
