Some teams have just got the wood on others.
Killed in the ruck, smashed in close and hammered up forward.

Mattner was played out of position.
Gallagher should go to Carlton with his "brother"
Mcleod should be swabbed.
Carey should chill out.

Pathetic!!!!!!

POTY

5 - Graham John**** (only player with a 4 quarter effort)
4 - Simon Goodwin (he's been a bit of a quiet achiever tonight)
3 - Mark Bickley (fought hard all night in packs)
2 - Ronnie Burns (was our only forward that provided something. He finally was played out of the pocket)
1 - Tyson Edwards (played ok but not good enough. No one else was better for 1 point IMHO)

BTM

3 - Tyson Stenglein (did good job on Stevens)
2 - Nathan Bassett (did a very good job on Cornes before he got cleaned up)
1 - Nigel Smart (did a reasonable job on Tredrea)

Rookie

1 - Mattner (he didn't do a bad job on Shaun Burgoyne overall. He had his colour well lowered in 1st quarter)

To be honest we deserved to lose by some 5-6 goals. Port were much more determined, harder at the ball and wanted it a whole lot more than Crows. If I was Ayers Mark Ricciuto would not have been back on the ground. He didn't show any qualities that you would expect from a captain. Overall a p*ss weak performance from the Crows. Hell we played better against the Saints

Oh that's HARSH!!!! He's not THAT bad, he just shouldn't be in the side when there are more players more experianced than him in the SANFL at the moment (Massie, Doughty)

Very frustrating and annoying - don't think i'll tip the Crows in a showdown until they actually win one - [btw - only 1 from 5 atm!!]

POTY
5. Johnc.ock - but PB still got 3 goals
4. Goodwin
3. Burns
2. Hart
1. Perrie - at least he took a couple of marks - no one else got many!

3. Stenglein
2. Johnc.ock
1. Bickley

Hmm - Port were cleaner and more effective on transition, had a better forward structure, were better overhead, had more midfield presence, were having the better of our "better" players and were strong in defence and yet we lost by only 12 points and had a sniff at the end and ended up with more scoring shots! - not sure what to make of that. You're right Stiffy - a 5 or 6 goal loss would have been a better reflection considering the above factors - and yet with of luck we could have won!!

I was disaapointed with Roo - dont think he had the right head set tonight - neither did GA for that matter - he needed to be have him back on the field though.

Just got back & I am devistated by that performance. Not going to vote until I have got my thoughts together. Port were much cleaner with their forward line play, which was the significant difference IMO. Like much of last year, our forward work was atrocious - with the exception of Ronnie Burns. We need a fit Stevo badly. Boy am I going to cop some s hit this week ... & it has already stated on my mobile. :(

POTY

5- Johnco.ck
4- Burns - Well done. The only forward to give a yelp.
3- Hart
2- Bode
1- Edwards

1- Bickley

We just cant match up on these guys!! Added to that was the fact that we didnt look like we wanted to win!

Our delivery to our forwards and conversion in front of goals has got to improve!!

We were shocking. Some of our work up forward in the second quarter wasnt bad, but we couldnt put any scoreboard pressure on 'em. Forward line structure needs to be looked at too Ladhams, Bode and Burns are fine but the three talls need to improve!

Bass could be out...which talls could come in? Marsh? Hentschel and Bock were OK today but havent earned a spot. Schell certainly has'nt. How did Rutten go this week?

What about the kick at goal on the run ...pft!!
Ive drank bundy with bigger kick.

Not to mention two costly turnovers in the last quarter that ultimately gave the scum two goals.

Maybe Im just p!!ssed off at the minute. If he gets picked next week Ill gladly hand in my coaches handbook.

you're right - but that turnover of his in the middle in the last 1/4 which led to a Port goal [ Shaun B] was critical - even tho' we later got it back to 7 points with 3 of our own.

I agree with TJ - not too bloody many in my book.

He has to go for either Massie or Doughty. He cost us dearly tonight with his errors.

I can think of two.
Stevens and Carey, but not many more.
Torney had his worst game for the club, Mattner got towelled up in defence, Clarke once again proved he is useless around the ground... Need I go on?

.....and maybe an injury-free Welsh.

Oh I think its becoming more and more evident that he is just as important as Stevens to our forward structure. The casing and tackling and applying of pressure in our forward line is just lacking. Welsh is a master at this and he can also kick goals. I think we need him back BADLY. I'm not saying this only on tonights performance but on the perforance of past month. There is just noone that does the hard yards in our forward line.

I honestly don't think that Mattner was that bad. OOK I agree he got taken to cleaners in 1st Q but he did well from then on. Gallagher has disappointed me tonight. He got a bit of the ball but didn't use it well but then again who did??????

Stevens and Carey were extremely disappointing. BTW was Stevens injured during the game?????? Once he got dragged he spent the rest of the gem on the bench. If he was OK I would have brought him back on once Bassett got concussed. I would have played him on Tredrea and moved Smart on Chad.

Torney did well in 2nd quarter in keeping James quite but he was not all that good. I think he started playing in the forward line tagging Wnaganeen. Torney is clearly not a forward line player. Hell I would have moved him onto Pickett once Bassett got injured and moved Hart onto Chad. Ayersy was well outcoached tonight.

Call me cynical, but the cries for Welsh sound like a bit of an excuse. We needed contested marks in our forward line tonight and that had to come from Stevens, Perrie and Carey. Besides Welsh didn't do much for us the preliminary final. :o

I am not using it as an excuse. If Welsh played tonight I don't think it would have made any difference. It was just a general observation that I made on our forward line in the last month.

Welsh played well in prelim final its just that our coaching staff didn't try to isolate him on Cloke who he was clearly causing trouble for. His game against Melbourne in semis was very good. I just see Welsh as a very important cog in our forward line. IMHO he is as important as Stevens

Very difficult to give votes tonight because there weren't too many good 4 quarter players for the Crows. Bassett was high up in the best players before being assassinated by Shaun Burgoyne

Here goes anyhow.

POTY

5. Bode - Thought he was very gutsy and courageous in and under. Good effort.

4. John**** - Terrific game in defence marred only by having 3 goals kicked on him. But had a red hot go all night.

3. Burns - along with Goody the only forwards worth their salt all night. Good effort Ronnie.

2. Goodwin - played well both as a HF fflanker and on the ball. Too good for Hardwick when at HF, but was needed around the ground as well.

1. Bickley - typical head down, bum up game from Bicks and was a good example to his team-mates.

Team Man

3. Smart - good effort on Tredrea and kept him to a pretty average game.

2. John**** - put his body on the line all night - see above

1. Bickley - although he's not the skipper he is "Captain Courageous"

Rookie

Not tonight Josephine!!

How much game time did Stevens get? And was he injured or something?? - Trying to think if I actually saw him there tonight!

One of the mysteries of the night , that. Unless he was injured , he should have at least replaced Bassett on Chad Cornes or had a stint at FF. He had very very limited game time.
