our midfield has been so crap we were forced to play McLeod in there...and though he was fantastic in the first time, it took it's toll on him, and he had to take himself off the ground in the last quarter...and fair enough too, because he's the oldest one out there, but seriously our midfield need to step up.
very disappointing last quarter but clearly Bock wasn't fit and Porps and Tippett only turned up for the first half, which is still a half more than they have been. unfortunately Jaensch and Davis made errors in the 2nd half that cost us 3-4 goals, Bock gave away a couple more. that's the game right there.
but the midfield have to get it into the forward line to begin with...about 75% of the third quarter was being played in that stale mate in Port's forward 50 anyway...and the last quarter was complete Port dominance. the midfield let us down, while the defence was half made up of underdone (Bock) or inexperienced players (Jaensch/Davis).

Now when we go down we go down in a heap.

I think we all thought the same at 3/4 time in just waiting for the turn overs which would lead to lack of run & a dropping of the heads.

Not gonna blast any individual player as it's gone past that stage but i thought Douglas & Petrenko can hold their heads up high.

Port too good.

I thought Douglas was pretty good today although there were a couple of skill errors and the worst holding the ball decision in the history of football. He actually looks our most dangerous midfielder when he gets the ball because *shock horror* he has the audacity to run and carry.

Schmidt, Douglas and Petrenko were the only ones who can hold their heads up for that last quarter.

Otherwise, absolute rubbish.

Thankfully he's proved many wrong on this board and no, forget about thinking of trading him.

Its almost like Porps didnt play the 2nd half. Credit to Port - they completely took him out of the game after half time.

In the first 3 quarters, we moved the ball well by handball, we were moving forwards with our passing and kicking longer. In the 4th, we went back to old habits. i.e. Handballing to guys under extreme pressure (i.e. Burton handball to Reily (?) that resulted in a Port goal). Crows went away from their game style in the 4th. It was stop-start, turnovers, missing goals (particularly Stevens, but Im not blaming him because he was the only one presenting) and their players stood up when it mattered, while our players were left waiting for someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Very disappointing but not surprised.

Douglas has shown enough that I want to see him in the middle for the rest of the year.

He's been good.

agreed with this and bockchoys post.

If I hear anything about improvement this week from the cub i'm going to start getting pissed off.
