Showdown Trophy & Medal to be presented on oval

The Adelaide and Port Adelaide Football Clubs are pleased to advise that a Showdown Trophy and Showdown Medal will be presented following Sunday’s game, and for the first time they will both be presented on AAMI Stadium.
With confirmation last week that the Showdown name would remain, the two clubs have worked together to finalise details for the state’s most anticipated games.
The club’s have agreed to settle simply on the names Showdown Trophy and Showdown Medal.
Both club’s chief executives said they were looking forward to this weekend’s Showdown.
“We are really pleased to have the tradition continue, and for the first time be able to truly share the trophy and medal presentation with the supporters,” Adelaide Football Club CEO Steven Trigg said.
“It was our wish to maintain the Showdown identity, and it is fantastic that we have worked with the Adelaide Football Club to ensure a South Australian tradition continues,” said Port Adelaide CEO John James.
The Showdown Trophy will be maintained, with slight modifications, as will the design for the Showdown Medal. SANFL President Rod Payze will make the formal presentation of the trophy and medal on ground.
The Showdown Trophy will be awarded to the winning team, while the Showdown Medal will be awarded to the player deemed by a select group of media to be best on ground.
The judges will consist of Mark Bickley (Channel 9), Ken Cunningham (FiveAA), Jesper Fjeldstad (The Sunday Mail), David Pittman (Triple M), Michelangelo Rucci (The Advertiser), Dwayne Russell (Channel 9) and Peter Walsh (ABC Radio).
Voting will be done on a 3-2-1 basis, with a count back to best-on-ground votes if there is a tie.
