I'll bet you he wasn't cited because we initially reported no damage, as well.

How do you manage to not diagnose a broken ****ing jaw?
I imagine the swelling was such that it didnt show up on the scans, then 4 days later it still hurts like **** and you scan it again.

Sturt Dog no case to answer, but Draper needing surgery on jaw. His season is effectively done.

When can we leave this pissant league?

A league so petty they hand out $250 fines for meaningless stuff to junior clubs.

And dont provide a senior umpire to support a 14 year old in his first game as an umpire. He then has a panic attack and cant umpire an u9s game.

Extremely unlucky

Hopefully the second half of the season gives the kid some happy times and some good luck.

WTF. The Sturt player wasnt cited? How CORRUPT is this competition? Thats mind blowing

I wonder what our cumulative free tally is over our history in the competition?

I'd be shocked if it's anything lower than -1000 frees

Absolute joke that the Sturt player didn't get cited and suspended for a dangerous high hit and intentional raised elbow, players don't raise their elbow when bracing for contact they do the exact opposite tuck the elbow in.

Shocking luck for Draper... I guess we write off his season and put him in the weights room for the rest of the year. Come back in Thilthorpe beast mode.

Deserved 3, probably 4 weeks.

Staggering it wasnt even cited. Will is a very lucky boy.

No way - plenty of time left in this season.

Terrible luck, we should fire/stop using whoever did the first scan.

Why ??

We use Dr Jones and Partners, one of the more respected radiologists out there. Swelling can easily mask a small fracture. That's why we went and did another one.

Pointed elbow directly to the jaw, fracturing it. No case to answer.

At the very least, the club should be publicly demanding an explanation.
The AFL act so severely in this area, not out of care for individual players, but to prevent law suits in the future that would bankrupt the competition. The SANFL letting stuff like this go leaves them open to all sorts of trouble in the future. I hope they have a lot of money in the bank.

They dont, thats why they need us to stay.

This is not uncommon. However, I would have thought that a fracture that was missed on a scan would not have required surgery. Can any medicos here provide insight?
I’m no medico but my nephew had the same surgery 2 weeks ago after copping a knee to the face in a tackle. It is operated on to speed up recovery and ensure there are no alignment issues and further complications from that in the future. It’s relatively minor surgery really and doesn't take long to compete from everything I heard from the surgeon and his team. Don’t even stay in overnight.

They get their cut from the SMA at Adelaide Oval.

Not sure why though. They no longer hold either AFL licence and the AFL paid out all their debt as part of the move from Football Park.

They are a handbrake on Footy in this State. Key reason why Qld/NSW are going past us.

The standard of facilities and coaching in NSW/QLD/Victoria is way beyond anything the SANFL clubs provide.

But hey "second best league in the country".......

I’ve spent a heap of time in Adelaide over the past two years on and off, and I can tell you the facilities, coaching and development in QLD is miles off what you guys have down here. And so is the standard of footy. Don’t underestimate just how good footy is in SA. The standard of footy in the top end ammo leagues in Adelaide, the SFL and some of the country leagues blows away the QAFL. There are so many guys down here running around playing for fun that could go up to QLD, get paid to play QAFL and tear the comp apart. Sure QLD junior numbers are good, but it still doesn’t translate to quality and depth in the senior competitions.

I have nothing against the SANFL as a league but we should not be propping them up financially or otherwise.

(Slight caveat for West Torrens FC given we are moving into their old home ground)
