I think he was trying to be funny. Landed well...

In all seriousness though if you do go after Zac Bailey does that change things?
Does that change things? As in, do we want to offload a pick 4?
What the hell are you on, and why come on this board with this rubbish?

After reading the last few pages. It seems like some think on here that he hasn't had an opportunity to really get into his career and it sounds like hes had some fair excuses.

I stand by the question, if you bring in a FA like Bailey and a returning Curtin where does it leave a guy like Draper?

In the midfield with them hopefully.

He’s had a lot of injury issues with his groins etc since we drafted him, so he’s gaining some fitness and continuity at SANFL level right now.

As much as we all want him in the team right now - and look at how quickly someone like a Jagga Smith/Sam Lalor have acclimated to AFL level with a heap of jealousy- we need to be patient and look at his long term career not just 2026.

Would you trade Cumming for our first this year, since he’s also had some injury issues since being drafted?

He’s a key cog in our future midfield until proven otherwise.

Given he’s our only single digit draft pick midfielder apart from maybe Rachele but he’s only just gone in there), he’s a significant piece for us if he can get his body right.

I'm not asking for a trade. I'm simply asking where is he at? Where is the club at (sounds like you're going after Bailey as a FA).

Cumming is 3 weeks into his AFL career. If you want to compare apples and apples Smillie would be a better argument you could make.

No I wouldn't trade Smillie just yet. However if he hasn't gotten over his injury issues this year. Id be inclined to take what we can and cut our losses.

And Chayce Jones

Jagga was out for a full year with an ACL??
Jagga went before Draper, and Draper has had multiple issues. Shin splints, back issues ( stress fractures), groins etc...patience.

If Draper is who we think he is, he'll be too good to be impacted. If he doesn't live up to that billing? Certainly could be.

Right now, I think you can say the dream inside midfield in 2-3 years for Adelaide is Dan Curtin, Jake Soligo (noting how in love with him we've been throughout the journey), Sid Draper with some combination of Bailey/Rachele/Rankine/Dawson as the rotational pieces to make a 5 man unit and Thilthorpe picking up a couple of CBA's as a 6th option (though not as a true midfielder, just one of those ways coaches with uber talented KPFs like to **** with the opposition). Of course, you don't quite know how good Bailey will be at Adelaide until next year should we sign him, but if Draper is at the talent level we think, it's probably Rachele/Soligo that sees their role adapt to Berry's inclusion.

What?
Rankine. 3.
Draper. 4.
Rachele. 6.
Curtin. 8.
Thilthorpe. 2.
Read the whole conversation and it will make sense.
The only single digit pick drafted as a midfielder.

We would look better if we rotate those 5 players through our midfield!

Rachele and Curtin look like mids to me

Yup. Too much of a deal is made about what position a player plays in their draft year. It is effectively meaningless if they are not a key position player or ruck. It's purely about what tools you bring, that will also eventually decide what position you end up as well.

So you think we always had Curtin marked as a mid when we played him as a key back?

It's not like these 2 didn't play midfield in their junior years either.

That's was just some standard Godden nonsense.
Surely it’s on nicks to say I want Curtin as a mid/wing and that’s where you play him?
What’s the point in the sanfl coach having their own say?
Or after the first sign of it nicks should have said wtf?
