From the squad selected, the side I would like to see run out would be:

B - Johnson Michael Corrie
HB - C.Scott Leppitsch Copeland
C - Notting Macdonald Selwood
HF - Pike Spaanderman Rischitelli
F - McGrath Merrett Bradshaw
R - McLaren Hadley Power
INT - Logan Moody Adcock Wood Drummond Ryswyk Attard Sherman

Really a young squad. Need to keep the backline settled, but plenty of opportunities up forward and in the midfiled. I can really see Selwood and Logan being the two that really come from the clouds and be very good senior players this year.

Leigh had idicated that he wanted Notting to play accross half forward, so don't be surprised to see him there.

On the topic of Logan, he will be a gun. I have followed his career for a few years, after watching him play for the NT in the under 18's. He is everything that Leigh loves in a player. Tough as nails and a good long kick. Plays like Craig McRae and could just fill that role easily.

Agree with you re: logan. The kid's as tough as nails and fearless, much as McRae was. Was at the intraclub last year when he broke his jaw, and this year when he tries his best to do it again.

This year is Selwood's last chance IMO. He'd have to play 9+ games to be guaranteed of being on the list next year. And I reckon he's good enough to do it.

Don't be surprised to see Leppa start at CHF with Joely Mac playing CHB on Miller.

Like to see Corrie play forward this year.

Game experience 0. That's a proposition hard to comprehend, but it could happen. I'ts only the Wiz bowl game. I'd be shaking in my boots if it's during the regular season.

Agree but then the followers includes Hadley and Power. I would imagine those guys will be the prime movers on the night. Brisbane could throw the likes of McGrath, Scott and Copeland on ball (or even Johnno) but as those guys are unlikely to play on ball there is no point playing them there in pre-season. McGrath may slot in on a wing....

Our disposal let us down. I think Leigh was doing a lot of experimentation but some of it just didn't work.
However, it was a good initiation for your our younger players as the Demons took that game nearly as seriously as they would Round 1.

Not disappointed with last night's game at all. Didn't expect to win and overall am pleased that the margin wasn't more.

Postives for me.

Melbourne played an almost full strength side and we didn't get completely pummelled.
Richard Hadley is well ready for a permanent spot.
Wood looks promising for a couple of years down the track but shouldn't be rushed. Problem with young kids in ruck roles is that their bones are still growing and if they sustain a serious injury they may never recover fully from it. I think this may have been the problem with Beau
Josh Drummond had some pin point accurate disposals - look forward to seeing him in the future
Jed Adcock - energiser bunny, forget 2nd and 3rd attempts, he was in for 5th and 6th, just didn't give up.
Noticed where we were lacking but knew we would be OK once back up to strength for example inside 50 in the defense and in the attack we were bringing the ball down but there were no crumbers there but know this will be Ok when we get more players back like Blacky.
How good was Luke's goal!
Like the look of Spaanderman too!
Feel confident in the knowledge we have a good solid base of youngsters coming up.
Pikey and Scott looked like that fire in their belly is still burning hot!

Negatives
Llittle concerned though that I cannot think of a replacement for Hart, missed him big time in the crumbing.
Leppa is still crap as captain
Merrett was so slow - didn't impress me at all
Bradshaw - not every ball is going to fall onto your chest or into your fingers when you jump, go in for the hard ball gets too
Overall impression is that we looked slow and uncoordinated but then again it was our first run and first time this team has played together like that.
Terrible disposals how many times was it direct to the opposition.

All that said, if expectations were lowered for this game most of above negatives wouldn't really apply.

On a side note I love the play on rule if it hits the point post and falls back into play, the penalised 3 point behind if rushed and no faffing about waiting for umpy to get his flags out. I would have no probelsm at all with these rules being part of the game proper.
