Docker Amy Franklin has had her trade wish granted, heading across town to join West Coast.

The Eagles part with pick No.3 and pick No.21 in exchange for the young forward.

one the swans could have got for free a few weeks ago as part of their concessions

Feels like something strange has happened with that, there are several instances of it now and the clubs in question have traded away high draft picks. There must surely be something in the way PSP was set up that so many clubs didn't use it only to go on and trade for players.

Surely it couldn't just be that they took too long to get their ducks in a row?

One problem with the AFLW has been it's lack of full transparency on rules, where the league has never published it's full rules (game, trades, drafts, international rookies, etc) for the public to view.

We only ever get an outline, as reported via various media outlets.

My gut feeling on the PSP rules is they've set it up like you have to offer the player a minimum length contract (2 years plus), so if you want to only offer a one year deal, you have to trade for the player. Again, just gut feeling.

PORT Adelaide teenager Sarah Goodwin will move to cross-town rivals Adelaide in a swap for former basketballer Jasmine Simmons.

Goodwin, drafted with pick No.7 last year – the second selection in South Australia – is a talented rebounding defender who played five games in the Power's inaugural campaign.

FORMER top-10 pick Nell Morris-Dalton has found a fresh start at Collingwood.
The Pies parted with pick No.15 in exchange for Morris-Dalton.

Anyone born 2004 or earlier is eligible if they nominate, so it is effectively the same draft pool as the draft held mid 2022 plus delisted players and minus the players already selected in mid 2022.
So essentially what you're saying is its a draft pool of young talent not deemed good enough to be selected mid-2022 plus any delisted players deemed not good enough for an AFLW side?

Hopefully theres a few more younger girls become of age that can nominate that weren't part of 2022 mid draft.

Essentially that is what the AFL have decided and yes the AFL and AFLW fanbase realises that it means the draft pool is a MUCH weeker one on a oneoff basis before normal service resumes for season 2024.

Not normal.

- Compo fo SPS still needs to be handed out
- I wouldn't put it past the current administration to hand out more priority picks for struggling expansion clubs especially if they are in an area they want to grow the game

I guess Leah Cutting isn't heading back to SA then? Even though she has been playing SANFLW...

Delisted GWS player Georgina Fowler been picked up by the Demons. Given their track record of good picks and player development, she's probably going to be another overlooked one carving us up in a year or two...

Maybe the Swans decided losing a pick in this dodgy draft was better than an opponent getting a high compensation pick (tied to the PSP) in the stronger next full draft?

Odd though that the Swans would care seeing it’s not a full national draft

Yeah, it's a strange one. St Kilda certainly seemed to think she was...
She literally said in a one-on-one interview she could only play for Port or Crows. Really bizarre. Only thing I can think of is either she’s going to FIFO or they somehow got her an identical job in the police force that she couldn’t while at St Kilda?
