Hey everyone,
For those who don't know, we ran an AFLW Fantasy game on this forum last season, and now entering Season 8 we are appealing for anyone who wants to join. This is a long-term management game, so there are carryover players and list management aspects involved.
BigFooty AFLW Fantasy - Season 7
Effectively what we did last season was we had a structure of eight teams, whereby each side played each of the other sides once, and the top four made finals. Then had a three week finals series with the top two earning a double chance (think SANFLW/WAFLW finals).
How does it work?
You're the coach/list manager of your own AFLW team. Each squad will have 30 players (plus inactives) to name a team of 21 players and 3 emergencies. The 21 players include on-field positions of a ruck, five defenders, five midfielders and five forwards. Each coach also names a captain and vice-captain. The captain will receive double points, while the vice-captain is a backup if the captain does not play.
I do all the scoring from the round, so it is just a case of naming a team, updating it each week and joining in the banter if you so desire!
Team selection
At the start of each season we nail down eligible positions for each player, and they are the positions they can be named in. As the competition is still new, in the scenario where a coach makes a mistake, we will within reason try and move the players around to make it eligible, or make use of emergencies. If a team is forgotten to be named before deadline, the previous week's lineup will be named.
Off-season
We will need to confirm numbers over the next week, and then will dive into a short trade period and draft, before starting the new season.
We currently have seven coaches who have confirmed they are in, so there may be one clear available spot, but we can also extend out and adjust the fixture if need be.
