Opinion Simpson to the Roos BS

I have seen two Fox Footy boof heads blathering on about North should make a call to Simmo to explore coaching role at the Roos. I just can't see it myself - why would a successful coach move from the WCE to the Roos? You would have to be a footy masochist.

There must be a reason why they can not lure big name players there even though they stump up big dollars.

That would be as compelling and make as much sense as relocating your family and kids from Peppermint Grove to Baldivis.

I heard they will offer Simpson 1.1 million a year for 6 years due to their massive warchest.

With him and Polec on the wings North will be unstoppable.

Agree - why would you move from coaching in front of ~54,000 adoring members every second week + a $50 million dollar training facility to ... well ... coaching 4 games a year in Tasmania?

I reckon our fans can be a little fickle at times. Was only 18months ago some fans were calling for Simmo’s head, some have also been fairly critical this year

We’re the richest club in the country, we won’t lose a bidding war to ****ing Norf.

If he wants to go at the end of his deal, that’s out of our control, but I’m not entirely sure why he would.

Coaches become lightning rods for criticism when the team sucks and probably get more of their fair share of credit when their team wins a flag.

Simmo is a great coach and one of the best there is right now no doubt, but he also has the support of a well run club behind him. I bet that when he tells the higher ups he needs something he gets their full support.

Would he get that same support at NM? That's a huge risk. Of course he might want to move back to Melbourne and work for his old club, but he also has some pretty deep roots at West Coast now.

I'd be surprised if he even took the call.
