Phantom Draft Snoops Annual Mock Draft with explanations

top effort snoop, best crack at a draft yet!

i'd be stoked if the pies were able to snare beams with their last pick and even temel with their second last pick, he seems to have upside and he could be developed into a gun fwd if things fall his way. i really hope we get a good one at pick 30.

Happy with that.
If the Crows had the choice between Lucas, Tapscott, Cunnington and Stevens at 13 I'd be very happy.
Don't know too much about Weeden, so can't really comment on him, but I also like Carey if we decided to go with him instead.
Menzel is probably close to my favourite player from this draft, so to get him at 61 would be awesome.
This draft would be pretty well perfect for me if we went with Cunnington/Tapscott, Carey, Sumner (would have to fall 2 more picks) and Menzel.

Mr Snoop, your descriptions are delightfully written and one can almost visualise these chaps doing whatever you say they can and can't do. Nice read that wetted my appetite for the draft.

i really like your draft its great but wondering if essendon would really let cunnington slip or even lucas and tapscott.

also wondering why we would pass up on gysberts?

but apart from that well done

Good read and its nice to see some difference in opinion than the usual cookie cutter drafts you see painted over the place.

Personally i think from a power perspective we're more in need of fine tuning our midfield and passing up Lucas and Cunnington would be foolhearty. Especially as i see Panos at least definately still being available at 16. I'd be stoked with a Cunnington/Lucas/Panos trio :)

Do you think Gerrick Weedon is a genuine forward pocket? And do you think 22/23 would be too early for him? Would much rather take Melksham/Lucas at 7 and the forward pocket at 22/23.

I am one (of many on here, no doubt) who has seen nothing of these kids play so impossible to critique selections. Certainly it's a very interesting and informative read.

And it would be fun to have another Luffy on the list, a decade or so after the original retired!

Not convinced that the Swans will still be picking that late in the draft, though. One spot will be held for Bradshaw and there is talk of Kennelly filling another we thought might be free. The number of available spots will depend on Playfair's health, yet-to-be announced rookie upgrades (one is probable, another possible, one more a remote chance), and whether the Swans decide to nominate any players as outside veterans - currently we have none but there are 3 who meet the criteria. We could easily be down to as few as 3 selections.

Great effort.
Suprised to see no Trent Dennis-Lane.
I'd love the Eagles to jump in at pick 71 and grab him, allowing Jetta to play as a dedicated wingman.

Great work Snoop. I must say you scooped me. Finally someone has realized what a serious talent Gerrick Weedon is. You are the only one that has him in their mock and rated reasonably high. I actually think Brisbane will take him at 27 if Ball is not available.
Maybe more of wishful thinking.

Very good read Snoop.

Have my Tassie bias on, and thought 41 was very low for Harwood - I see him as a long way ahead of Tutt for example although both are major favourites of mine

If Year 12 wasn't getting in the way I'd have a crack at one myself.

On Groenwagon - I don't have him going in the ND - and if you read in the Mid year mock thread - you'll see I raise massive question marks.

He's a big, lumbering tall who gets pushed aside way too often.

Not tall enough for a ruckman, skills aren't good enough for a Key Forward, and the hands aren't great either.

I could go into more detail if you'd like.

I may be pro-Tassie kids, but I am also a fair judge (or so I like to think) on our talent.

We just all have our favourites. Of the Tassie batch I most like Harwood + Crichton and then think Archer is worth a punt.

Davies, Groenewagon and Milne are all players talked about who I don't see the hype in as much.

jetta - reasonably happy

Tapscott - would be amazed and very happy if we got him with 22!

Taylor - :thumbsu:

Other players i want are lucas (who we obviously wont get if jetta is selected) and colyer, but taylor and tapscott are probs better than him.

a few surprising sliders but alltogether a good read:)

So glad you decided to go another year Snoop :thumbsu: Always respect and rate your opinions on juniors very highly.

I'll be absolutely stoked if the Crows pick up Cunnington but I'll believe it when I see it :p Incidentally with our pick 29, if James Craig is still available I imagine we'd take him as we need another ruckman far more than we need another tall forward (we picked up five talls last year - one is now gone and one is iffy at best but the other three look the goods) or a midfielder, particularly with us already having snared Cunnington.

Man, I can't wait for the draft

Very pleased with Richmonds draft, with all bar one of the kids I hope we get being given to us. Would just about be perfect for me if we were land Griffiths and Gawn alongside Martin, Ledin & McDonald in the actual draft. That way we would address all our list needs. Quality in the middle, couple of KPF and another monster ruck to develop alongside Browne.

He is in the list for the rookie - I usually just put some names down for that and will do so again. I had him about 100-120. I think i had him last year and was a little burnt.

fair call - was hard with Adelaide bc I thought your list was very good. Craig is certainly worth # 29

I hope it came out in the read that I am a big fan of Tapscott but I just didnt have him rated above some of the others bc I think the quality talls are just going to get nabbed early.

you are definately a very fair judge and its good to be pro-Tassie a little - as I am NSW. I nearly had Chaz in but I just couldnt be convinced his champs was good enough.

yeah tend to agree on groenewegen as thats what I saw. i am still hopeful he gets a rookie contract bc once he fills out there is a lot to work with.

Archer was in the mix and would be around the mark for rookie. Thought he led and contested pretty well when I saw him.

Interested in your views on Davies - I am a fan. I love the physicality in his game........so reminds me of a young Solomon. I didnt rate his skills that highly but when i checked the disposal effeciency stats he was real good.

Milne was very very close albeit I probably have the order for rucks as Hannath, Hayward, Milne and then JOnes but you could throw a blanket over them for mine. Personally I like Hayward the most but they were all in the next 15.

yeah wasnt surprised to see him at DC but i think that put him on a few radars I suspect.

Fair call on Harwood - think I mentioned it was a long way for him to fall. He will definately go and at the end of the day thats all that matters. Personally its needs that will differentiate where players go. Ie Harwood maybe a better player but there are quite a few of him whereas Tutt offers something that clubs really need and he is very good at.
