Ryan Neates
Joel Coyne*
Sonny Dann
Josh Donaldson
Joel Leeson
Simon White**

Boys with the star next to there name will be strongly considered.
Two stars almost certain, the others are in the mix.

Good effort Snoops. Tough enough as it was this year to put out a mock ND, let alone a RD. :thumbsu:

I think you'll find that Brisbane will pick up Irishman Niall McKeever at some point. He's already signed a contract, just needs to officially be selected by the club.

I would be very happy with Johnny Bennell picked up for WCE in PSD. Forget Jetta, Johnny is younger and played well at Peel league at 17 yo in 08

Hope Ben Howlett can end up somewhere as well, hopefully he stays west.

Have they changed the rules on the rookie selection now? What is the age limit now guys>???

I like the Grimes pick Snoop, although with one of our 2 picks we will be taking a mature ruckman. At this stage we only have Taylor and Renouf able to go this year. I'd be thinking Putt is who we will get

An Essendon tip , John Williams has been delisted by us but is still training with us and from what i have heard was told he would be picked up as a rookie if no one else picks him so i would presume he is a lock but at what pick i do not know.

Marcus Marigliani has looked impressive at training and is probably in the mix as well. He will play with Bendigo if not picked but given his skills and fitness look really good at training so far he may be hard to pass on given he is a very strong build and AFL ready body wise.

From a Carlton perspective I would love it if the other teams picked according to this mock. It would allow Carlton to pick up their 4 picks from the best 7 players in the mix IMHO opinion - I'd go Joe Dare, Tom Hill, Tom McKenzie and Andrew Hooper (assuming Carlton are not thinking of giving Aisake O'hAilpin another go, which unfortunately they seem disinclined to do).

Carlton are however very keen on Jarryd Cachia, so expect he will be taken if someone doesn't beat them to it.

Port Adelaide will select Jordan Johns from Broken Hill through NSW scholarship scheme and Richmond will select Josh Free

Happy with Donaldson but not sure about Wangerneen as we already have Dick and Davis - Though Kris Pendlebury could be Picked. Would Rather Tom Hill

Yeah I'd be happy with Donaldson or Tighe.

Wanganeen small but can play. Lot of folk have him pegged more fwd than back but I have seen him best as a dashing back and we dont have a heap of them.

Agree Pendlebury a chance but as mentioned we have played with recruiting Rose, Meyer etc over the years and we never do it. The other question for me was there a point in the year where Pendlebury would have gotten senior selection......not so sure.

didnt see myles sewell and he definatly deserves a spot somewhere.

i also believe richmond will select grimes instead of panos who seems to be impressing the guys down at punt road when i went down there today to have a look at our new recruits.

josh free, son of tony free should also be given a shot very late in the rookie draft

that was an oversight. i must have accidentally changed a selection around and lost him. will be readded - had him in the national mock.

agree josh free is a chance.

hope your blokes are looking at Panos - you need more options there for mine albeit Post looked like he could play fwd towards years end.

Great work Snoop. Always a pleasure to read your mocks.

Tell me, what are your thoughts on Alex Silvagni's prospects? Seems like he may be a chance with Freo.

yeah he has been close in years gone hasnt he - would be a chance for Freo given they could do with some mature body options in the key back posts.

Interested Snoops in your rationale behind the GC picks.

Yes they will take some mature agers and so Iles is likely given how well he's playing, as is Skipper (or some other ruckman) given you don't want to be playing young kids in the ruck against hardened bodies in the VFL, but Luke Ablett? surely he offers nothing that GC really needs.

They have come out and said that all those five are likely to be mature bodies (which surprised me a bit) - logic being they cant have all kids and they are thinking only 8 uncontracted players - which means massive offers to a few!

I know a bit about the Swans and they rate Ablett very highly in terms of professionalism and work with new draftees. Logic was there is a role for that at GC - bit speculative but a chance.

Anyway somehow left out Sewell so will probably look at him instead of Ablett.

That is a great effort Snoop, some really good left field selections. It is good to see that someone else rates Tom Harms, he has been linked to Geelong from what I have heard.

Only issue for mine is no pacy small forward for Brisbane, but still great effort.

Am wondering whether to do one myself, but the effort required congratulations.

go on!

you dont think Luff or Donaldson are chances in the rookie for WCE?

Florio and Carter have great AFL attributes dont they.

Surpised Brown wasnt on your list.

Havent seen enough of Coyne and White to feel confident enough

great work mate, a good read as per usual.

just re bennell - didn't know that he is still on the afl radar (legitimately). extremely talented player, was pushed off the ball a bit too easily, but would be happy, for him, for him to get another chance. would definitely be suited to playing at his home town, though.

i have also heard the blues are keen on him.
is it true he is currently training with them?

Thanks for that snoop, awesome effort! Would of thought some one would be looking at Ryan Davis from west coast, considering that he knocked back a new rookie contract. Has the physical attributes to make it, just lacks the decision making and kicking lets him down. His attack on the ball/man is also first rate. In my view gold coast might be his destination.

.......
63 Carlton Andrew Hooper / North Ballarat / 172cm / 78kg
Every year there is a bloke like Hooper. Dean Kelly ghosts for me were revisted when Hooper didn’t go. If Jaryd Blair can be rookied then this bloke should be a moral certainty. Everything he does on a footy field says he is a chance to be very successful at senior level. Very very hard at the pill, wins a heap of contested footy, runs hard all day and has really neat finishing skills with a reasonably penetrating kick. One of the things that makes him distinctive is his sprints though. He is incredibly quick off the mark and would therefore present as a terrific Back pocket / roving type to man the elite smalls running around for many teams at the moment. I really believe this guy is in the Sam Mitchell mould and a club would do well to give him a go.

Can anyone help me with this player. Hooper shared the medal with Swallow in the U18 competition. He was also choosen as the all Australian U18 2009. He was regarded as 20 - 30 pick at the National Draft.

Just an ignorant question: Why he is not picked in the National Draft ??

forgot about Johns......will fix that.

Jordan Johns has already been placed on our Rookie list

Port have 1 pick in the PSD and 4 picks in the RD

This takes into account the retention of Danny Meyer, the elevation of Jordan Johns and the selection of Daniel Bass

Height's an increasing concern. Average midfielder is mid 180's in height, with a few 190cm+ ones running about. Clubs are less willing to gamble on short players in the national draft.

If the Eagles were to draft him for instance, he'd be your shortest player by 6cm. That's a fair bit to concede.

That's the glaringly obvious reason, there could be others.

Sounds reasonable. Thanks!
