So who is the most underrated player in the AFL?

Matthew Pavlich still doesn't get the recognition he deserves through out his career in my opinion, he is just a dead set superstar.

I think everyone is watching Sheuy closely to see if he'll make the leap from talented but not quite top class to that top class level. Masten last year and this year has really made it to that quality but not super star level. Same with Scott Selwood. Even Priddis when he's in top form they are all around that discussion for top 50 and AA squad level but the watch is on Shuey.

Does have similar qualities to Dangerfield, very explosive player. Not as consistent as Danger and not quite the same pace, but is a better kick. Gets shut down too easily and is injury prone, but has potential to be WCE's only elite mid (of which we have none atm)

I think it's a fair point. He gets the AA noms etc. But if someone asked the average footy fan to name the top 20 players in the league a lot would pass over Pavlich. He's had a couple of standout statistical seasons with goals but usually he just gets his 2-4 goals, takes his marks, he isn't really regarded as one of the great key forwards in the game and he probably should be.

Ironically, you have just proved Cotchin to be underrated. Luke Ball? What has he done in the last few years? Imagine if it was him and not Cotchin being the #1 mid at Richmond, no way they win 15 games last year. He hasn't even got an AA or a b&f to his name since 2005.

Love Nath Jones but Cotchin is better than him too.

Pav isn't rated (by some) as high as others because he hasn't performed in big games. Richo Mk II basically.

I was asked for a list of 19. The ones you are picking out aren't in the 19 I gave. And as for the sub naming of Ball today. He is getting on in age. He is still a great clearance player and has been for the last decade. This is probably the year he starts to drop off, but it hasn't happened yet.
Pies also have to back up for an early friday game this week. I imagine he is being managed.

I really wanted Rockliff in that original 19. Could have had him or Jack in. Get the likes of Redden, Zorko, Rich, Moloney and some of the kids that are being developed around him and in 2-3 years, he will be up there.
