I agree with Hale being severely underrated. And his position is too.

There's a huge advantage in having a backup ruckman who can hold his own as a ruckman but also play as a genuine forward. Hale is clearly the best at that in the league at the moment.

Bellchambers is just as good if not better

Always thought Tendai Mzungu doesn't get enough credit, nor Michael Johnson for turning his career around. Freo have traditionally owned 'underrated' threads.

From the Crows Rory Laird is still underrated, we've been better since he's returned.

Last year he was statistically the 2nd best tagger in the league.

I can't remember a time when he has been towelled up by a A-grade mid-fielder.

Last year he even stopped Gary Ablett as well as kicking a few goals himself.

Had ankle surgery in February, coming back this week. I firmly believe he can be a 40 goal/year forward if he puts together a full season.

I've seen plenty of Hawks mentioned - Breust, Stratton, Hale, Smith etc but there is one more that is flying even more under the radar ...

Taylor Duryea. Beautiful disposal, tough as nails, quick off the mark and strong overhead. Has seamlessly replaced Brent Guerra and looks to be a definite 200+ gamer. Gun.

For Port, it would have to be Carlile at the moment. The way he has transformed himself into a very good KPD has me in awe. A couple of years ago he was labelled lazy, can't run and fat. Now he gets rarely beaten one on one, has immensely improved his disposal and love it when he takes on the game at times with his run. For a big man, he definitely moves well.

Mitchell is underrated in the accolades he has received. General public rate him up there with the Swans and Selwoods of the world.

The most underrated player has to be a port power player. They have some amazing youth but players like cornes and monfries are often overlooked by there promising youngster as the reason they have shot up the ladder.

IMO, Gunston is over rated. He is the beneficiary of the work of others. Great kick for goal but that's about it.

Maybe you underrate Stratton and smith a bit. smith looks a gangly type but he just gets the job done, most dont know he was geeting 1st tag im the second half of last year and clearly won most of those match ups, Stephen hill (one of my favorite players) often gets credit for drawing a tag even when he is soundly beaten. Smith is one of the best wingmen in the comp if not the best, that might be hard for some people to swallow (scouts who over looked him and fans who thought he wasnt all that early days because of his style of play) but is true.

Stratton got as many riseing star votes as ben reid did in there 1st season but stratton was struck by injury and forgotten, he is rarely beaten outmarks biger players and chases down agile mids at ground level but because he is a 10cm to short for kpp he gets roped in as just another 3rd tall b-grade player. Top 10 player at the hawks.

If I asked an opposition supporter to rank hawthorns top 10 players I sure most would have a vastly different list to what most hawthorn supporters would put up.

Hawks have overrated players but there not the ones most people think.

Would be interesting to see. The problem for you guys is that you don't really have another ruckman that would allow him to play forward more of the time. Or do you?
