In the USA, USADA went after Lance Armstrong. I noticed that this happened while the U.S. election was going on.

Now, this whole sports drugs thing has happened just days after Julia Gillard called the election.

Coincidence?

In other words, do these drugs companies investigate these cases, and do it with an upcoming election, so that they can hit the govt up for more funding, and then use their latest "prize" as evidence of their improtance, and to get the media and public onside.

How could Obama or Rhomny turn down USADA needing more funds when they had just caught Lance Armstrong?

Let's see ASADA have finished their investigations by September, and then lean on Gillard and Abbott to pledge more funds towards them, and use their latest "prizes" of AFL teams and players to gain public support.

Government agencies need to prove their relevance or face their funding being cut. If the ACC didn't perform this investigation and prove they are relevant then they would most likely have had their funding slashed post-election... there is some element of self-preservation. The ACC will not be the only government agency looking to appear relevant.

Having a minister and other members of parliament grandstanding is just for personal gain as let's face it Lundy has no profile.

The people who think this isn't the case are the ones who also think there's no such thing as corrupt footy players, coaches, and staff. ASADA's budget allocation's gone up since then. There's politics involved. As always.

I just dont know.
Need to hear Brock McLeans thoughts on all this stuff before i feel comfortable about commenting.

He says it was Orange Juice

What the politicians pledge before the election has nothing to do with what happens afterwards.

There will be no carbon tax...
Victorian teachers will be the best paid...

So how does your theory actually work?

In that it isn't actually taking in any revenue?? Is that like the mining tax?
No it is a Emissions Trading Scheme that currently has a fixed price which will transition to a floating price over the next few years.

USADA have had a hard on for Lance for years.

While I dont really agree with the way they targeted Lance (arguably they had a lack of evidence), they have ultimately been vindicated I guess.

They target test because they can't prove it. They do this in order to apply pressure that could force a slip up or to catch one if it occurs.

Im guessing Julia knows the Bulldogs are the only clean team, that's why this has been 'initiated' so close to the season start. And she reeeeally hates Peter Costello for some reason.
