Apparently, Brad had triggers for an extra year which would have gotten us much better compo. But since it wasn’t guaranteed it didn’t get taken into consideration. At the time I thought that was absolute bullshit. However if my memory is correct Brad didn’t end up hitting those triggers and was delisted/retired, so in hindsight probably fair.

He only really played three years at St Kilda. 1 game in his fourth year then gone

Throwing names out there

We all know how cooked Essendon's Fitness Department was, we want an extractor and accumulator

What is Darcy Parish worth? Bombers are looking at a rebuild

Or too risky

Petracca asked for a 5 year deal on more money and we only offered 4 years (same as his current contract), that’s why he’s chosen the GC.

Would you all have been happy to offer him 5 years on more money?

The reports are that he asked that from us, haven’t read it applies to Suns as well. Which makes sense to me, at our club he’d be required to be put brute force mid throughout his contract, at Suns he’s more likely to get an extra year out of his body.

But I knew that we’d win this either way when it came to the rainbow and lollipops brigade. When they believed we were ahead, were the bees knees, best system in the country, gun coach, gun culture, ANB sprouting this from the rooftops. And as soon as it starts to turn, Xian who?, not serious about success, just want to lounge around in the sun and seagull easy goals in a forward pocket.

And how was UcantCme hooking a heap of people in with his garbage about midfield minutes and the rest of his crap. You’re all such a laugh, I love trade time.

Jack Steele anyone?
If he is all that is left standing I’m in.
What I saw in the finals convinced me Berry is not up to it and if we want another
hit at it we need a ball winner, he’s not first or even second choice but he has 2 years to go on contract
and still racking up nearly 9 tackles a game .

Gut feel is Petracca's preference was strongly towards Gold Coast and the extra money/year was the price to change his mind.

I reckon he will join the Suns without the extra year/money on his normal 4 year contract. Ultimately he will have forced us to walk away on purpose, rather than it being a Crows-led choice

Agree the Suns likely wont have been asked to stump up extra, but reckon this is more to do with him knowing that carrying the contested component of our midfield will cook him after 3 years. He’ll probably be able to negotiate and meet an achievable trigger playing mid/fwd in a much stronger midfield unit.

Both clubs, GC are giving that to him
Now after a lot of mattresses have been written off with some watery nocturnal emissions, hopefully we can all agree REIDY DID the RIGHT THING

Petracca at 4 years on 1.2m seemed overs as a back-end-of-career 30 year old. NO possible way should we be paying 5 years at whatever 1.3-1.4m that he is asking for.

He ain’t that good and has a limited shelf life.

Reid is setting us up for a very long premiership window and Pets ability and contract demands (which naturally flow thru to existing players on the list) were not consistent with our big picture plans. And that’s before we likely blew 2 x first rounders for him

That last paragraph is total crapola.

It was mentioned on one of the AFL panel shows (I think it might have been Matthew Lloyd who said it) that Justin Reid tries to win every trade scenario and list managers find him difficult to trade with.

If I knew exactly when it was said I would try and find it, it definitely could be bullshit though.

And there can be a washout the other end of players .....appears Humphries was eyeing off more midfield time in 2026

A younger & better player than Petracca ....ouch

Thrillthorpe7 is saying GC are obliging Petracca on his request.

Agreed.
I would rather Oliver for sure but if Steele is left, it’s better than nothing.

Bez unfortunately not up to it. Love it and love his work rate but he needs to be just depth in our squad

IF we can't land that elusive top end mid, then in an ideal world, I would like us to target a wing in trade to go with bringing in Ah Chee. That way we can completely move Dan Curtin into the midfield rotations along with Draper. e also can get both Rankine and Rachele in there. Essentially thats a completely different look to what we have now although I would still be working Dawson and Peatling in the rotations. We would have essentially a pick 3 (Rankine), Pick 4 (Draper), a pick 6 (Rachele) and a pick 8 (Curtin) in the midfield. That needs to happen day 1 preseason imo and work them together..if we regress a bit next year while the mix gets to understand the roles so be it, but that could be the future for us. Edwards also needs to be in that group and is another 1st round picked mid we have.

The benefit is we also can bring another 1st rounder in this year

Won’t be popular around here, but I’d take Mitch on a deal that is close to minimum base with inflated match payments if he’s got nothing better on the table elsewhere. If we’re contending he could be decent 3rd tall forward and defence injury cover. Given he’d be backup, there might need to be some SANFL performance bonus’ thrown in.

Hollands I’d take the punt and if we find out that he’s crossed the line just once, delist him, pay him out in full and tell him he’s free to go where he wants.

agree, I would take him but only if it costs a 4th rounder or something and I suspect that might be the case.
