I feel like Port were a little too happy to move him on, thinking they'd get a bounty. This then backfired and they'd burnt the bridge so had to let him go when he chose differently to their plans.

They were also banking on Perryman coming who had agreed however changed his mind at the last minute when Collingwood came knocking.

At least when his viewpoints are embarrassing it means he is expressing something with any weight behind it.

Most of what he says just bursts into nothing like a soap bubble upon contact with my ears.

it is interesting the view of who can/can’t be reconciled and brought back into the clubs.

Marlon Pickett in jail for grievous bodily harm and armed robbery. Was able to come into the Grand Final as a redemption story. Then in 2023 charged with a bunch of robbery charges and continued to play. Eventually pled guilty to lessor crimes.

We have Balta guilty of assault - four match club suspension.

We have JUH more recently that has been into all types of questionable situations (and maybe also Oliver’s known problems) coming into new clubs this season.

Im not saying any of these are worse than Tarryn Thomas

has done but it’s interesting what is seen as

• redemption arc worthy
• have the club wrap their arms around them
• has no place in the AFL landscape

I know everything gets done on the last day but what a slow trade period.

It doesn’t look like we’re going to get materially better but at the same time, neither is:

• Geelong
• Hawks
• Collingwood
• WB
• Fremantle

The maybe better is GWS.

The teams that have or will materially improve their list:

• Gold Coast with Petracca
• Brisbane and their FAs
• Sydney if Curnow happens

Compared to the teams around us it probably ends up being a nil all draw which I think we’d take.

Still a lot to happen but it’s not all doom and gloom with us not landing our big fish.

A nil all draw still leaves us behind the contenders. Hawthorn and Collingwood blew us off the park and Geelong made the GF. Without Trac Gold Coast already won more finals than us.

We had a glaring deficiency in September, everyone else also not getting better doesn't change that.

We had Bruhn accused of having a sore finger… kept on the list and allowed on ground in AFL. Charges since dropped.

We have JUH more recently that has been into all types of questionable situations (and maybe also Oliver’s known problems) coming into new clubs this season.

Im not saying any of these are worse than Tarryn Thomas has done but it’s interesting what is seen as

• redemption arc worthy

Could it depend on who they play for more than what they do?
