We have terrible draft position this year - currently 5, 59, 61 etc after the Lynch compo.

We also have a bunch of guys in contract, and most of those uncontracted we're likely to re-sign.

Not a good position to be in. So the question is can we find a trade for some of our less loved players:

Hickey or Longer - seems weird to have two mediocre ruckmen hanging around on the list
Savage - but what's he worth?
Dunstan - we have a lot of his type
Lonie - but not worth much
Gilbert - surely unlikely as he's flexible and a stalwart
Armitage - he can't get a regular game for us but GC is the only place he would
Goddard - seems silly to trade him now though as he might have finally recovered from injuries
Bruce - if we decide tall forwards aren't the future
White - if his attitude doesn't seem to be improving fast enough
Weller - not worth much, GC the only ones who'd see value

Anyone see value on any of those at their club? Thoughts on trade value for each of them?

If you are getting rid of Bruce (not sure why you would), you could get great value for him from the Gold Coast if he is willing. They have some great picks. They could take the compo for Lynch and then use one of their lower picks to trade with you for Bruce. Better than what they are likely to get by matching.

I wouldn't trade Bruce unless a very good offer came along. Would probably need a pick in the early/mid teens to even consider it.

I'd happily move Longer on for a pick in the 30s, same goes for Newnes. Pick 25 would be about right for Dunstan. Would trade Weller, Armitage, Gilbert and Lonie for a token pick upgrade. No point in trading Goddard just as he finally gets fit - he'd have no trade value but might still come good for us. I'd want some value in return for Savage but it wouldn't take too much, maybe trade him with a third round pick for a second rounder

I love the old GC will take them line. If a relatively fit Barlow can't get a game picking up 45 in the NEAFL, I don't see us going anywhere near Armitage. 3 years ago I would have been all over it, not now though. If we decide to take Weller back it will probably be as a delisted FA. Weller has age on his side, but I don't know what he offers that a Swallow or Lyons can deliver. May be nice for him to come up and play with his brother though, even though he may find himself in the NEAFL a fair bit.

Bruce would be interesting if he can stay fit.

From an Essendon P.O.V would happily offer pick 34 to the Saints in exchange for Luke Dunstan. Proven ball winner with questionable disposal but fits our age bracket we require more depth in. As an inside ball winner, he would almost be a certain midfield starter for us.

Josh Bruce would be a great get for a team but for us, the required deal would be overs especially with us having similarly role players already on our list. A pick between 15 - 30 would be brilliant business for St.Kilda.

Hickey or Longer - 40 - 60
Savage - early second
Dunstan - 25 - 40
Lonie - token draft pick
Gilbert - isn't he retiring anyway?
Armitage - isn't he retiring? token draft pick if anything.
Goddard - token 3rd rounder
Bruce - as mentioned, 15 - 30ish
White - unsure
Weller - token 3rd rounder

If you guys were looking at moving higher up in the draft, surely you could look at moving on some of these guys?

Blake Acres - 10 - 30
Jack Billings - 18 - 36

Would happily take one of these two guys at Essendon. Billings seems lost, and in a better system could become the player he was meant to be. Acres showed brilliant early season.

Honestly he's a great contested mark and a good shot for goal. Was really keen on him 2 years ago before he re-signed.
Great contested mark?
He has the hands the size of a baby lol drops absolutes sitters

Absolutely laughable if you think we would let billings go for anything less than a first round pick.

Would prefer Acres over Dunstan. I think he'd be a better fit for us.

Our 1st & GWS' 2nd for Billings, Acres & Saints 2nd?
Rates Billings at about 11 if you assume Acres could get done for the 2nd rounder alone.

No thank you

Saints wouldnt accept that for Billings even though that's probably his current value and Acres has too much potential to be traded while his value is low

Not really an overwhelming list. Bruce would still have currency and if a club was interested might get you something in the mid 20s.

Dunston I'd be thinking mid 30's. Savage maybe mid 40s.

Everyone else would just about be steak knives.

He's been crap this year. Face it

What you want, you probably wont get
We understand that and that's the thing, we dont want anything for JB because hes one of our most talented players

What we would want is a top 5 pick. What we would get is a mid first round pick if we put him on the market.
