apparently in the new starwars dvd's at the end of return of the jedi lucas has repalced the guy who was under darths mask and replaced him with hayden christionson. I think it will make it a bit more better.
What do u think?

I heard about this last week and if its true I have one question

WHY GEORGE?? WHY?

i know what u mean but it will look a bit weird he looks like one guy going under the mask and then looks like someone totally different when he takes it off.

It's gonna be like you die and you get younger. And if he's done this to anakin, why hasn't he done it to Ben?

Because he is a ********er. A selfish ********er. Well, apart from that I read something about Anakin going back to the way he was when he "died" and became Darth Vader... He's altered the Greedo shoots first thing to Greedo and Han shoot almost at the same time. Slight improvement I suppose. Still didn't need to be tampered with. I think Temuera Morrison's voice is being used for Boba Fett too, which I suppose makes sens.

Other changes I know of include Jabba looking more realistic in Star Wars, Ian McDiarmid's face being put in as the Emperor in Empire, eyebrows being removed from Darth Vader's head when his mask is taken off, and I'll bet there will be a whole lot of little changes that I doubt anyone would notice or care about.

meh.. all these changes I really don't think I'm gonna bother getting them.. I have the original VHS and they do just fine :)

You might want to hold onto the originals; George will likely try to wipe the memory of their existence off the face of the planet.

Apparently though they have spent a huge amount of time and money just cleaning up the prints for transfer, so if nothing else it will look better than it ever has.

I pick up my Star Wars DVD pack today, they were posted out to me last week, advantages of pre-ordering them I guess?

Agreed, although putting McDiarmid's face in TESB will be a nice touch.

And apparently Jar Jar Binks will be there as well - part of one of those stupid little celebration scenes at the end of ROTJ. God, the Ewoks were enough... and now this.

Thanks George. ********head.

Thank God for my old VHS versions. I can't believe Lucas can't see why so many people like the old versions. I also can't understand why each DVD can't have two versions: the original cinematic release and the re-jigged version.

Yeah, Palpatine in ESB will be good. Apparently in the original one it was an old woman with chimpanzee eyes.

I smell a 30th anniversary box set coming up the hill...

Han shooting Greedo was changed when he re-released episodes IV V & VI in the cinemas in the 1990s whenever it was. In the remastered version, Greedo pulls his gun on Han, and then Han shoots him. In the original version Han shoots him under the table before Greedo touched his gun. Boo to Lucas for trying to clean Han up and make him look like a good guy - we didn't mind that he wasn't a good guy to begin with.

The Ghost of Hayden – Probably the most notable of any of the changes in this edition is the addition of Hayden Christensen at the end of Return of the Jedi. He replaces Sebastian Shaw as the ghost of Anakin at the end of the film. While it seems like more blasphemy, Lucas explains in the commentary that when you become a ghost in the Force, you retain the form of your true self. Anakin's last form of his true self was as a young man, not as a burned up old guy, hence the modification. This may make more sense after Episode III, but it's definitely a controversial change. It will take me a while to buy it.

Well u see i wouldn't have read that since i haven't been to any star wars site in over 2 years purely to avoid ANYTHING on episode 3. I knew to much about ep 2 before it came out, ruined the movie. So far i know nothing about ep 3 and loving it.

I got my box set on Monday, and have finished watching the movies.

Frankly they have come up so clean & vibrant, it's an added pleasure re-watching them.

I'll have to watch them now with the voice over playing, and then the 4th disc.

The little stuck on bits, age rating and brief comments about the discs all come off easily.

I didn't like the stuck on review of the discs which was sticky taped onto the spine of the internal box cover, so I took that off, and put it in the 4th disc box.

If you're a Star Wars fan, you gotta get this box set

Got the DVDs last night and watched Star Wars...as Asgardian said, it looks fantastic and again a total pleasure to watch.

Flicked to the end of Jedi to see if Hayden Christiensen was at the end and I'm not that disappointed that he was. I can see the sense of it. He was Anakin where as Sebastian Shaw was what he became as Darth. It makes sense that Anakin died as such when he became Darth...to me anyway, maybe I'm just lenient. I'm thrilled though that they didn't put Natalie Portman at the end as was earlier rumoured...that would have been really out of place.

I am looking forward to the commentaries for all three movies. Is it Lucas who does the talking only...anyone else?

The problem with Phantom and Clones is that it lacked the humour that was evident with Solo's character. He had the abilit to take the mickey out of the force & all its mumbo, whereas in these two latest, sarcasm-irony-humour-whatever was found in Jar Jar Binks. (ie none).
