Is this the biggest win after trailing at quarter time?

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/games/1980/141519800720.html

Also what are the biggest wins after trailing at half time and 3/4 time?

Probably close to a record this year..the Geelong/Freo meeting would probably be the longest gap between opponents in terms of time in the one season? Rd 1 and then in week one of the finals, 23 rounds between them.

And kudos again to Ron the Bear....to be honest as a young Cat fan in the mid 70's....it's amazing how young Larry Donohue was in 1976. Born 22/4/55 he was just 21 and a bit. Had a good year in 1978 kicking 95 goals, but remarkably was finished in VFL by 1980, his last game against Richmond in Rd 6 1980, just a smidge over 25 y/o. Could scarcely imagine a similar thing happening in this era!!

What is the earliest and latest times of the day that a game has been played? (for latest time - convert to eastern time so for instance a 7:30 start in perth = 9:30 start in melb)

These games are recorded as 10:45am starts...

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/games/1920/060919200526.html

...and tonight's 8:15pm start is equal to the latest local time

Several games in 1999 started at 8:10pm Perth time = 10:10pm Melbourne time, e.g.

Edit: This one's down as a 10:30am start

Can't recall this 1998 game which is down as a morning start

One arising from tonight's game:

Has any side ever (since the stat was kept) lost the centre clearances in a final by as much as Adelaide did tonight, but still won?

Amazingly, afl.com.au doesn't keep the stat, so I'm relying on the TV commentary which seemed to indicate that it was in the ballpark of 16-6 (i.e. Adelaide lost it by 10).

What's the highest possession tally that a debutant's been a part of?

Difficult to understand what you mean.

Most disposals on debut, according to Paul's stats:

Code:
Ps Player Cb Year Rd Op

39 Greig, Dean St 1991 21 Ca
38 Williams, Greg Ge 1984 1 Fi

31 Noonan, Danny Br 1991 3 Ca
31 Muston, Beau Ha 2009 9 Me
30 Hasleby, Paul Fr 2000 1 Ge

Most disposals by a team containing a player on debut - 505, North Melbourne v GWS, 2012 R2 (Cameron Delaney).

The 505 possession tally by North Melbourne with Cameron Delaney was the answer I was looking for.

Ron, you are on the same level as Rogers.

Thank you.

P.s. 1550th post on BigFooty.

Here's to another 1550 more.

Times around that period I got from Footy Works, I think. There were a number 15-30 min discrepancies with newpapers of the day, which at one point I started to try and iron out. But as usual it petered out.
I've no idea why this game started at that time! Footy Works has it starting at 11:40am.

Morning games in League football
The match played in Canberra on Saturday, August 1, 1998 between North Melbourne and Port Adelaide at Manuka Oval, with an 11.40am bounce down, was the fifth League game since 1899 timed for a pre-noon start.
In 1899 on the Queen's Birthday, Wednesday May 24, the Round 3 Collingwood v St Kilda game at Victoria Park commenced at 11.00am.

On Wednesday May 26 1920, to coincide with the Royal Visit by the Prince of Wales, two morning games of Round 5 were played with starting times of 10.45am. Richmond played Collingwood at the Punt Road Oval, and Fitzroy played Geelong at the Brunswick Street Oval.

In 1938, a split of Round 8 matches were played over Saturday and Monday of the King's Birthday holiday weekend with three games on both days.
Essendon and St Kilda sought the permission of the League to have their game from the 12th round (July 9) played on King's Birthday. The reason was for both clubs to embark on interstate visits in July.

Approval was given and St Kilda and Essendon played on the Monday King's Birthday at the Junction Oval starting at 10.30am. It is to be noted that both clubs had played their Round 8 matches only two days before on Saturday.

Who and when did a player last go a whole match without a possession? I'm sure due to injuries and the sub rule that this may happen occasionally but what about for a full match?

I read Jason Torney once did it as did Cameron Mooney in the 99 grand final.

The 10 players to return donuts this year have all been substitutes.

Subbed out: McInnes (Ca R22), Davey (Es R22), Johnson (Ge R18), Walker (Ca R16), Maguire (Br R13), Peterenko (Ad R4), Carrazzo (Ca R4), Yagmoor (Co R1)
Subbed in: Young (PA R19), Harper (NM R15)

9 players did it in 2011, 4 in 2010, 9 in 2009 and 5 in 2008.

Trent Knobel infamously returned 0 disposals and 28 hit outs for St.Kilda in a 2004 semi-final, followed by 0 disposals and 22 hit outs in the prelim.

Most of those subbed out were injured in the first quarter so they are excused.

I am surprised it was relatively common pre-2011 and the sub rule. With all those high rotations most players should've been getting 60+% game time and you would think they could get a touch.

i was just on a site that had the vfl starting in 1897 with so many teams, geelong was one of them but it had all the other teams had played 116 seasons and geelong only playing 113 season. why is there 3 missing and whats the reason for geelong not playing them seasons???

I think Geelong stood out of the game for 3 seasons because of the war.

He appears to have taken a mark, so the ball-shaped indentation in the neural network not necessarily lost.

Did he take a mark and then self-implode so he couldn't get rid of the footy? :D
