a guy that avgs 28 touches 7 tackles and nearly a goal a game over his career is just 'good' theres lots of players ud have to consider 'less than good' sloane gray etc

Sloane and gray are elite I wasnt bagging rocky he is a good player

Motlop totally inconsistent you can read that over the last 5 years go on the Geelong board he has is definetly a whipping boy, most players are whipping boys because if inconsistency on his day he is fantastic

Why weren't clubs lined up to get him?

They were

You only heard about port and Carlton because that is who it came down to he wanted to speak to at the end. Plenty of clubs would have been speaking to his management in the lead up to the fa period

When you've got to lie to make a point, you've already lost.

Crows went hard for Rockliff last year and almost had him. Not a lie. Crows went for Motlop , Motlop himself stated this. You went for both targets so don't deny you did

You seem to speak in facts, care to provide some proof to your claims?

Forget the Motlop one, I know that, but the others?

So Hocking confirms Ports "significant" contract offer and Motlops age resulted in the compo.

There's some severe overrating of Motlop and Watts from PAFC supporters going on. Rocky is a great pick up though, Gray/Rockliff makes for a very solid forward/mid rotation but Motlop doesn't offer too much and Watts will have the same output as Westhoff which makes it difficult to play them both.

Mots is the upgrade we needed for impey.
We need another run and carry player to go with polec.
and at worst can be sat up forward and free up wingard and or gray to go to the midfield

It comes down to how they fit our best 22.

They make a massive difference

These are Moneyball picks. We had great inside 50 numbers but from there a poor conversion rate due to poor entries and poor kicking for goal. To play in our game plan you need to run hard and the forwards need to apply pressure. Therefore we played only one tall target inside 50 (Dixon) who was often double teamed.

Watts is elite for forward half pressure acts, for inside forward entries and a great set shot. His GPS data is excellent too. His presence up forward as a second tall target will free up Dixon. I think Watts was 4th in the B & F in 2016.

Motlop is a class ball user, has a great eye for goal and his tackle and GPS data are above average, making a lie of ill informed critics. His average possessions are above average for the position he plays.

These two are ideal for us and we don't even need them to increase their input. If they perform as they have over the last 3 years we will be very happy.

The AFL releases bands of salaries and those who study the numbers state its over $600k to be in the top 15%.

What conditions existed in this situation to provide Geelong an alternative outcome?
Ablett to Geelong and the need to provide GC with a first round pick.
