Will they eventually be able to pinpoint which corridor the plane was flying along and where exactly within the corridor? Or is this general info of the 2 corridors as good as it gets?

sing me songs of no denying

seems to me too many trying

waiting for the next big thing
L. Ron Hubbard can't save your life....

Wait a minute! L. Ron Hubbard! Scientology! Xenu!! IT WAS ALIENS AFTER ALL!!!!!

Quite possible. Who knows.

If I stole a plane and had it sitting it on the ground, I'd want the passengers alive and in the plane to make sure a cruise missile didn't land on my head.

That's just me though. :)
That's 250 people you have to feed, guard etc for who knows how long... An inconvenience you'd probably just get rid of. Only hope for those people really is that instead of killing them they just abandoned them into a jungle somewhere to fend for themselves.

So do we assume that the stolen passport duo are the hijackers? Or the pilots have gone rogue? Or another option? This really is an amazing story, hope the passengers are still alive out there somewhere but I personally very much doubt it.

It went something like this -

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vK522u6UrgA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Look for an expensive yacht cruising the Andaman islands, with evil genius and beautiful French brunette onboard. Motive unclear.

Why dont they just keep searching before coming up with these assumptions? Surely its better to just keep looking instead of coming to conclusions without having any idea whatsoever of what happened.

The 777 can't safely hit 45000 with the set oxygen levels. Hypoxia would have taken everyone out without extra oxygen.

Once neutralised, return to 23000ft and proceed with plan

The air would become very thin at 45000 but it would not kill everyone. Not sure how you came to that?

Wasn't everyone on here saying that it could definitely NOT be hijacked and that it DEFINITELY crashed into the ocean?
To be fair, within the first 3-5 days, anything but crashing into the ocean was merely a conspiracy theory. It would have been logical to suggest being crashed into the ocean. But after about 4 days, the situation changed. My initial thought was plane crashed into ocean. After 4-5 days I was thinking hijacking. Its all in here. Then I said I'd be worried about a future event, like at the MCG, I was laughed at.

The authorities know thats why. They know the real deal. We don't?

If the plane was hijacked for a september 11 style attack you would think the attack would have already occurred. Waiting this long just gives anti terrorism agents time to thwart the operation. Motives are so unclear, but I suspect that the hijackers have been in contact with the US/China/Malaysia for some time now (if the plane is still intact)

Disagree - gut feeling is that most passengers, if not all, are very much alive.

If you go to such an elaborate plan, I can't see why you would simply fly it into the ocean. They would've known how many miles it was to Beijing, how much fuel was spare etc -

This plane is down somewhere in the Kazakhstan Iraq region IMO and geez we need to be alert if this is the case. Unbelievable.

It hasn't been hijacked for a mass murder type of situation. This thing goes deeper than terrorism; governments and various organisations are involved. I believe it has been hijacked for the important intellectual property on board.

I thought that ceiling on the recommended cruising altitude was more based on the efficiency of the engines, not the oxygen levels.

Yep, imagine if the plane has been loaded with explosives for a suicide mission. Shiiitttee

I hope you're right - but it seems like a lot of (distressed) people to be feeding/looking after etc for over a week now.

Are you saying that taking the plane to 45000 ft would instantly kill everyone on board?

it would be at what's known as coffin corner where the wing stalls. it's ceiling is 43,100...it's not certified for 45,000...no chance of even getting it up that high at 70ton of fuel onboard.

737-711 go to 41,000 feet. The Concorde used to regularly fly at 45,000+ feet.
