Supporters You Respect The Most

Everyone always opens threads about who you hate the most, what clubs supporters do you respect the most?


For me it would have to be West Coast, especially after the send off they gave Hird and Sheedy. The rivalry has always been a competetive one and never gone feral. IMO

agreed...Coasters and us have a very healthy rivalry. In my opinion

West Coast - love their footy, respect stars of the game

Collingwood - disgusting. Got urinated on at a game a few years ago by two ferals after Hird kicked a goal in an Anzac Day game. - filth

Carlton - mob mentality. Pick fights left right and centre

Hawthorn - good to see they are back on my hate list. The arrogance of some supporters astounds me

St Kilda / Melbourne - they are just there. Never win anything, never terrible but they are just there - much like a zit on your back

Adelaide/Port - see Collingwood. There must be an IQ test at AAMI and if you get over 50 they wont let you in

Bulldogs - love their passion, many old schoolers who know how to sledge, generally all in good taste

Kangaroos - no real opinion on them, feel sorry for their side in so much trouble

Brisbane - hated them when I lived up there as their understanding of the game was horrible and to be fair havent come across many since

Sydney - seem to have arrogance in the fact they are a 1 city team. No real problems with them, they just love telling you they won even if they arent true supporters

Geelong - like em, reminds me of us in 2000. air of arrogance but rightly so - good to drink with

Fremantle - never been to a Freo game so cant comment

Richmond - ohh dear. 2 levels here I reckon. The younger filthy breed and the older fanatical breed. Fanatics I can handle - love their team etc etc, filth I cannot


Having said all of that, gee some of our supporters leave a lot to be desired...!!

And yet we also gave a long and respectful standing ovation in Sheedy and Hird's last Melbourne game despite the pathetic behaviour of many Essendon fans (at least around where I was sitting).

Absoultely, hance the reason I dont vote Richmond supporters as bad as Pies/Blues etc. Every club has morons, us included but I must admit Richmond did themselves proud that night, even if the idiot sitting next to me did get kicked out for multiple obscenities at Sheedy.

Richmond. To put up with the shit they have for the past 27 or so years and STILL be as passionate as they are, speaks volumes i reckon. Their fans are the most passionate in the league, but also tend to take the piss out of themselves at the same time.

geelong: put up with misery and us kicking their butt for the greater part of 50 years and still respectful.. i think the unerring hush when hird got injured last year during the game said it all.. i was on the footy train back to geelong and most of them were disappointed he got injured.. even though that probably helped them run away with it in the end.. I guess living in geelong and travelling to Ess v Gee matches on the train and having a geelong barracking family has helped me form a good opinion. But chat on the footy train always reflects good ess performances as well as geelong..

west coast: always seem to have a great attitude.. hence the jacket waving tradition, and i think fitting send off to sheeds and hird last year. Also most seem to know their footy and respect the essendon fc

Brisbane, doggies, richmond all honorable mentions.

I don't (nor should anyone) hate or respect any clubs supprters more or less than others. Each team has thousands of supporters so of course there are going to be some complete morons at every club. However the majority of supporters of every team are respectable people, even though it doesn't always seem that way on BigFooty.

Great Football club even though they havn't got the success in the last couple of decades that they somewhat deserved, the fans remain as passionate as ever.

Any supporters who remain loyal year in year out despite the ineptitude of their board, admin, recruiters etc. Therefore, the doggies and the saints have my utmost respect... but most especially, the sth melb. and fitzroy supporters have my respect. (So do the University supporters who have stuck by their team). Geelong and West Coast deserve a special mention for just generally being on the level... generally...

i like richmond as their supporters are very passionate.

Haha, you obviously didn't follow footy during the mid to late 90s, or any other period of Carlton dominance. Their supporters are extremely arrogant and love themselves when they're actually good.
