The Jumper or Guernsey is a real beauty but what has been your fav
Fortunately their hasn't been many changes
My fav is the Red v jumper from when they were South Melbourne and Sydney in the early days.
Then around 1987 ? The jumper changed sewing a white opera house over the cut red v which took the top part of the jumper and extended a small red portion down the back but maintaining a white back with red numbers and two red stripes down the side.
Then at the request of Garry Buckenarra to signal change at the Swans they changed the jumper to how it looks today pretty much with the red back and white numbers minus the SMFC on the back of course.
Their was one attept I think at a preseason jumper which you see as an opera house with large red and white stripes coming down from it (hard to describe sorry)
Then enter heritage round which saw a return of the old South Melbourne Jumper which excites me every year but always looks a bit strange without a red colar. I know players don't wear jumpers with colars anymore but I wish they would print a faux colar on to truly represent the heritage look. Collingwood did that one year.
Swans wore a Centenary Jumper in 1996 I think against Melbourne which was basically red and White Stripes and a fack lace up design on the front and did the warm up in knickerbocker style pants.
I don't know wnough about the old white jumper with the red sash and wonder if we will see that jumper one day in the heritage round.
Have seen some old seventies footage of white shorts and in the 90's they started wearing white shorts against some clashing teams such as Brisbane and hooped red and white socks against Fitzroy and Melbourne.
2006 seemed to be a permanent switch to hooped red and white socks.
Not sure why I'm typing all this other than for my own nostalgia
I kind of wish they would wear the Old South Melbourne jumper for Melbourne games similar to the the way Brisbane are giving a nod to Fitzroy with their current away strip.
Well my vote is for the old South Melbourne/Sydney jumper all white with a red number and red V on the front and red colar but my age may dictate that - 34
I'd assume some of the younger fans would love the opera house Sydney identity jumper of today.
Oh man sorry just love the red and white
