I’m a bit cautious about that statement.

Lists can go backwards pretty quickly if we face salary cap pressures and/or some young players plateau.

We made a GF. We should be better this year. Not contending would be disappointing - albeit I acknowledge we were never likely to get the charmed run with injury we had last year.

If your good enough it will still happen see Hawks of 2014 massive amount of injuries and lost their coach due to a illness.

Obviously that Hawks side was execptional but the point remains.

There is a story in yesterdays Age by Wilson about how the AFL is ignoring footy in NSW.
Can anybody get it up please , another paywall
Sadly nothing new tbh.

Frustrated Sydney club chiefs have pleaded with the AFL to lift its game in NSW, pointing out that Australia’s biggest state has lost significant ground to the NRL over the past decade as head office has repeatedly overlooked the harbour city for major football events.

Pridham;
“One-third of Australia’s population lives here and yet we’ve seen our marketing budget cut. Not even a fraction of the effort being put into Tasmania is being put here.
The game as a whole is going backwards in NSW."

Mathews GWS CEO (ex AFL game development manager);
"I had national responsibility for game development, but I didn’t realise how naive I was. Not only in understanding how different the market is here, but the difference between individual markets across Sydney.”
Matthews pointed out that the AFL’s boss in NSW no longer sat on Gillon McLachlan’s executive team, as had been the case in the case before the Giants were formed.

Mathews on the Swans fixturing;
“They make the grand final last year and their season opener is fixtured away against Gold Coast. And their first home game is Sunday lunchtime against Hawthorn.”

What the AFL are doing;
$2 million funding for an expansion hub with a seven-person marketing and data team based in Parramatta.
Aims to build a code awareness, club awareness and fandom awareness in NSW

Kirk didn't present the medal the right way to Greene then

who gives a s**t, not sure why it's named after him anyway
Stupid name for the medal really .
Kirk seems like a bit of a knob

Thanks Hairy once again , nothing new , but Caro has probably exhausted bagging North and Clarko , so had to rehash. Fair comments by Matthews

Anyone seen this.
I've been saying it for a few years, even when convincingly winning games.
I have been covering my eyes when watching throw ins & ball ups around our opposition's goals for a number of years now.
We have a flaw in defensive development at our club, since we decided to improve our attacking play.

Against GWS again a few years ago, I remember Sam Reid tapping down to Josh Kelly whoi wasn't being watched for a similar match winning goal.
We suck at it. The worst team at it & here is the statistics along with some footage to prove it.

And the bunsen burner is on medium.

We're in bracket 3

The first one has a great video on us. It's hard to take everything in on such a small segment but if you freeze each frame you can clearly see what King is talking about with our boys and lacking defensive effort

I look forward to the article exploring the mysterious phenomena whereby Buddy, Heeney and Hayward all angle set shots towards a phantom set of goals, at an approximate 30 degree offset from the real goals.

Funny you should post this....

NRL is gaining huge ground because of the changes it has made to the rules recently. COVID nearly killed the league off but they made some game rule changes and that has brought the crowds back. So a rugby following friend of mine told me on Saturday at my sons aussie rules game.

The conversation came about from him asking me if I was going to watch the swans today (Saturday) and I told him I'd be going to watch the son's seniors team instead because AFL has lost me with the bullshit changes they've brought in over the last 5 years.

NRL is going to surpass AFL if they don't end the bullshit against the northern state clubs.

He's literally not on the ground anywhere in that frame. Next.
So are you saying the master made a decision not to attend the stoppage even though he was the master.

Yeah just lock it to only articles that no one can read because of paywalls. Should be good.
Who said that , Hairy Biker posted one from the AGE . It just get's derailed . It's fantastic for those that can't get all swans news .
Always someone will get through the paywall . Thanks for your input .
