NSW Police take action on Sydney shootings

'The NSW Police Force will launch a taskforce to target criminals involved in recent public place shootings and associated organised criminal activities.

Taskforce Magnus led by State Crime Command will examine the links between the shootings dating back to that of Alen Moradian in Bondi Junction on Tuesday 27 June 2023.

"Initial inquiries suggest the common link between the shootings is conflict arising from the alleged supply of prohibited drugs, particularly in the south-west Sydney area," a statement by NSW Police said.'

Canterbury is basically Newtown for those of us further out haha
From a chooks perspective, Canterbury is an Inner West thigh, Newtown is the chicken neck (if you've ever tried driving down King St in the rushing hours), and Greenacre is the chicken giblets.

I do live in the Western Suburbs of Sydney. Proper western suburbs though.

Too cryptic for my knowledge of Sydney suburbia.

& there is more:
'Police are this afternoon investigating whether an attempted kidnapping in Sydney's south-west had links to organised crime.

A 30-year-old man was leaving a gym in Punchbowl just before lunch today when a man wearing a balaclava forced him into his own car.

Police say the pair wrestled inside the car before the car rammed into the window of a nearby pizza shop.

Both men fled the scene before the 30-year-old man returned a short time later with minor injuries.

Initial reports say three men – all wearing balaclavas – were seen fleeing the scene in a white van.'

Five shootings in one week with a lawyer shot in his driveway in the same suburb as a couple of earlier shootings on the same day, police aren't sure they're related. That might be an indication of just how common shootings are becoming.

Okay ...

"We know for a fact that what's behind it all, it's a claim for drug territory, it's about the distribution of drugs across New South Wales."

Where the most lucrative market in Sydney is the affluent eastern suburbs. Moradian was shot in Bondi Junction, a bit close to the rich & famous.

In Balmain, another one only 29 years old.

Shortly after the stabbing, police found that vehicle on fire in nearby Five Dock and discovered a firearm inside.

Good to see tow truck drivers getting work.

'A taskforce set up to target those involved in Sydney’s recent spate of public place shootings has arrested nine people including bikie members and associates, and seized about $750,000 worth of drugs.
Task Force Magnus was established in July to target gun-related violent crime in Sydney, which was thought to be related to various warring drug suppliers.

At 6am on Thursday, the Raptor organised crime squad executed three search warrants and 15 Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance checks in Quakers Hill, Auburn, Greenacre, Villawood, Dundas Valley, Greystanes, South Penrith, Plumpton, Orchard Hills, and Voyager Point.'

'Police located and seized two firearms, about 700g of cocaine, one kilogram of cannabis and methamphetamine estimated to be worth about $750,000 in street value, as well as $45,000 cash, mobile phones, and luxury jewellery and watches believed to be stolen.

They also seized numerous fraudulent NSW registration plates and a laptop in Greenacre used to manufacture fraudulent registration plates.'

Potentially another one

A 27-year-old is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head and chest in a drive-by shooting, while one of three burnt out cars found nearby has been linked to the incident.
Police rushed to a carpark in Canterbury Road in Campsie, a southwest suburb of Sydney, about 9:20pm on Tuesday after reports of gunfire.

It is believed two people were sitting in a car when it was sprayed with bullets from another vehicle by unknown gunmen.

The suspected shooters are still on the run.

Two targeted shootings in two days. I don't even know if these shootings are gang wars now or if too many idiots have guns and shooting their enemies for whatever, is becoming ordinary.
