I don't understand how Sydney had to quarantine just because of an Adelaide stopover but we had a barrage of people from New South Wales coming into Victoria a couple of days ago and no requirement to quarantine. This just does not make sense.

Each state reserves the right to enforce its own border restrictions. WA's are probably the strictest in the land. Their risk categories are based on figures such as number of days since the last community infection and average cases per day. SA is in the second-lowest risk category, but WA still requires SA visitors to observe a 14-day self-quarantine period.

Syd was at Adelaide airport for a few hours. SA locals possibly joined the flight in Adelaide. All passengers would have been required to observe 14 days of quarantine.

Victoria's border restrictions are simply less strict than WA's. You can form your own opinion on that.

I'm not laughing at Stack, nor do I think its funny the young fella is stuck behind bars and realistically, the worst may still be ahead for him...

I AM laughing at you, and your flippant defence of him and his actions as if they are not important, not serious or of little consequence.

I have no problem you wanting the best for him, wanting to keep him on the list etc. but seriously trying to downplay his (numerous) indiscretions is the exact thing that makes him think his choices aren't as bad as they are...

So my hahahahahahaha is directly solely and straight in your direction, just in case you needed me to be a bit clearer on that, as you didn't seem to get the hint the last 2 times.
I haven't downplayed his numerous indiscretions, I have only mentioned his latest, which by WA law was an indiscretion, but in reality it is more to do with WA's strict policies than anything else. A touch down in an airport where there hasn't been a case in weeks which resulted in 2 weeks in jail to me is very harsh.
Yes I know the rules are the rules.

I have defended Stack against those who want him sacked, as have plenty of others. But to some it is so black and white. To me it is far from that. If you think that funny, then have a laugh, it may be good for you.

The manager of imprisoned Richmond player [PLAYERCARD]Sydney Stack[/PLAYERCARD] says the Tigers have been privately supporting the troubled West Australian defender as he faces the prospect of seeing in the new year behind bars.
Stack, 20, is serving a 14-day quarantine period in an isolation cell at Perth's Hakea Prison over an alleged quarantine breach.

His agent, former West Coast and Brisbane Bears player Paul Peos, said the Tigers had been supportive of Stack despite the player himself acknowledging that his career hung in the balance.
"Can't say much at this point, but I can say Richmond have been providing considerable behind the scenes support for Syd's welfare," Peos said on Tuesday.

The breach came about after Stack returned to WA earlier this month to attend his grandfather's funeral, having started pre-season training with the Tigers at Punt Road earlier in December.

A brief lay-over at Adelaide airport en route to Perth triggered a 14-day quarantine period in the WA country town of Northam. Police allege Stack breached the conditions of his quarantine by staying in the Perth suburb of Belmont. The alleged breach was picked up in the early hours of Saturday morning when police stopped Stack following an alleged brawl in the Perth nightclub district of Northbridge.
The Tigers have opted against making more than a brief generic statement while the matter remains in front of the courts.
Stack had already found himself in hot water earlier in the year when he and Richmond teammate Callum Coleman-Jones were sent home from Queensland, suspended for 10 games and fined following their involvement in a fight outside a Gold Coast strip club in what was a serious breach of AFL hub protocols.

Stack acknowledged to a court on Sunday via an audio hook-up that "my AFL career is on the line with Richmond".
A Perth magistrate has adjourned the matter until January 6 as the prison's quarantine policy prohibits Stack from leaving his cell to speak to the court via a video link during his isolation period.
Peos on Monday said that his client sounded "very distressed".
Former St Kilda assistant coach Jason Mifsud, who like Stack is Indigenous, questioned the decision to put Stack behind bars.

"Challenge the behaviour, support the person. Not sure incarcerating a vulnerable young person is the only solution in a case such as this. Seems unimaginative and unnecessarily punitive," Mifsud wrote on Twitter.

Despite being rated by some clubs as worthy of a first-round selection on talent alone, Stack was overlooked in the 2018 draft amid concerns about his reliability. He became one of the first players to be signed by the pre-season supplemental selection period after training with Richmond following the draft.
Stack worked his way into the Tigers' senior side in 2019 before being hampered by injury and ultimately missing selection for the AFL grand final. He did however win a premiership with Richmond's VFL side.
As a supporter of Richmond, I’m glad to hear that our club is supporting him behind the scenes. We’ve built our culture in the way it is right now for a reason and this action’s in line with that.

I understand the damage that he caused and the trouble he brought the club (also why people are upset), but it takes a whole lot for our club to cut him out. They’ll do whatever it takes to ensure his well-being first and foremost and I stand by that.

Stack is the 5th in WA (and the only indigenous person) a 6th was given the option of hotel quarantine at his expense or Hakea jail. He opted for the hotel.
and we wont even lock up the person who went to work knowing their housemate had tested positive, causing the chadstone cluster

Cometh the hour cometh the man
And this case it could be a woman (Peggy)
To a large degree the football world will move on from this and not care too much, but within the club and those close to it the Club will be judged on how they deal with Sydney.

To be a truly great club they will have to show compassion , patience and wisdom
As these attributes will build loyalty and devotion
Also to be great they have to be ruthless , decisive and maybe even hard as dithering and softness will only see you deviated from your course to greatness

The actions and non actions of Peggy, Benny & Dimma will be studied and judged by the players , the players friends and family , the workers within the club , sponsors and us devoted supporters

we’d like resolution now , but think the club would be wise to use the time that the jail sentence gives us. Make sure he has people contact him during that period
When he is out and the dust has settled get him back to melb , give him the chance to explain why and where he’s at now to both club officials and the playing group

I don’t know what sort of punishment should be handed down

but the outcome I’d like is the playing group to be happy with the process and sanctions arethought to be fair

and parents and family of next years draft nominees to be think “could Richmond pick my boy”

as that will be a part of maintaining the dynasty

It’s funny people were carrying on about how harsh Victoria was and the police were brutal and all this crap.
We are soft as butter here and you’d get away with a fine you’d never pay.

I’ve done worse than this many times over in life. I don’t think it’s worth losing a young mans career.
You right in the right circumstances.
However his actions did cost somebody(s) career at Tigerland.

Stabilised at 22% capacity. Strict diet to stop any further degradation.

Thank you for asking!

Take care mate, looking forward to a catch up in the Jack Dyer Stand next year

I think it sends a poor message of accountability if we keep him on. The QLD breach was meant to be the blast that he learnt from. He cost people their jobs, he put the clubs premiership campaign in jeopardy.

To stuff up again for a similar thing within 6 months is a giant slap in the face to the club and members, Everything he said was bullshit and its now just taking the piss. What message does it send to the rest of the paying group? Why should they bother to give up the party life? CCJ should probably travel to NSW and get a lappy from a Northern Beach stripper, hed get another chance.

Have I got this right....Stacky is behind bars for breaching CV19 restrictions..yet pedohiles walk free
thats pretty unfair tbh (not that i disagree pedos should be locked away forever). everyone else has pretty much walked free from breaching restrictions too, even while knowing they have the disease.

stacky would have a pretty fair claim that hes only being held due to his ethnicity. you can bet the 4 or so other people being held are all either poor or a minority. nothing like being middle class and white (and thats coming from someone who is). just look at how we put the entire housing commission into house arrest on an hours notice, yet we didnt do the same to the 20% (or something like that) of people who left quarantine while knowing they had it.

Very kind to ask and thank you.

Going ok. Battling Stage 4 Kidney Disease, but if I stay off VB_longneck diet tips I should be ok.

I have nothing to complain about.

Haere Ra

Man, that seems so unfair, had a bit to contend with! Hope you are going OK with all of that. Have a Merry Xmas mate!

Agree with all you say if it is all correct and the circumstances surrounding it are everything that needs to be known. Therein lieth the problem. It does see really odd to me that he has had to be remanded with no bail. Equally odd that no new bail request has been sought (that I know of). Perhaps this is his 'learn your lesson Sunshine' moment?

This will have a better outcome than sacking him. Throwing the baby out with the bath water comes to mind.

This is the second report I’ve read that states that Stack wasn’t able to appear because of the prison’s quarantine policy. If this is true - I can see why Mifsud said what he did.

In contrast, women held on remand while in quarantine are able to attend court hearings via video link from prison but must wear gloves and a mask during the proceedings.

Surely any man can also wear gloves/mask to the video link ?
