I think they will go for Key position players and Ruckmen with their early picks-
12- Lewis Johnstone- Perfect to fit the needs of Sydney. Key position player who i think will be a shining light in the swans forward line for years to come!
30-Brother of Jarryd, Tall ruckman who can go forward and kick a goal would be delighted if Sydney got him.
61-Luke Stanton- I think he will go later then expected and the swans will use his tallness on the wing and will try and convert his poor disposal into good.
62- Ben Cousins- If the Magpies choose not to use Pick 45 or 46 on him then i think he will be in a Swans jumper. Could get two years out of him and mentor the younger up and coming midfielders at Sydney.
78- Luke Jericho- I think the swans will pick the former adelaide forward up and turn him into a solid full forward. Lots of potential to be unleashed at the swans!
:D:D:D
Any Thoughts? I know the Cousins situation is unlikely, but that Rhyce Shaw trade could change a lot!

I like the thought of drafting Jericho. He did well from limited opportunties at the Crows. He played a similar type role to Burton and as a result he didn't feature much. He's still young and with the loss of Davis and potentially O'Keefe, we need a walk up replacement.

.............

Well he wasn't a regular was he? I remember him kicking five in one game this year. It may have been against the Tigers from memory. He knows where the goals are.

Has Roos yet drafted an 18yo over about 185cm using a pick lower than around 50? No. And can't see much changing this year. Possible that pick 30 will be used on a tall but he's flagged his interest is on pace, run and skill. I expect the first round pick to be used on someone like Hill, or maybe even Yarran if he's still around.

Maybe a ruck with a very late pick or in the rookie draft (Frail?).

And I really can't see what the attraction is with Jericho. We have plenty already in the team and pushing through the reserves capable of playing - at worst - a mediocre non-key forward role.

For all the Sydney people how is Murphy developing? I understand he is being groomed as a backman. With all the raps on him I wouldn't mind having a look at him next year.

On the draft I think Cornelius would suit your team very well although he is not a fashionable pick on here at the moment. On the smalls Walters or Robinson are another two who are a little left field but would suit you, particularly Robinson who can come in and play right away in the Goodes type of role.

He's coming along nicely. Kennelly claimed he was close to a senior debut towards the end of this season. Not sure how true that was. He still has a lot to learn.

But the raw attributes are definitely there. Quick, aggressive, plays with loads of enthusiasm and is already trying to direct traffic. Although he played the whole season as a backman, he loved running up the ground to snag a goal now and again. His kicking style isn't the prettiest but it's generally effective. Would love it if he could develop into a forward - he loves throwing his weight around and could see him crashing through crowds ala Hall some time into the future. But contested marking is something he'll need to get better at to make it as a key forward. His hands look pretty secure when he gets them in the right place but he still doesn't have much of an idea of how to use his body in the contest.

With the Rookie promotions we will have unless ROK leaves i cant see us drafting more then 3 players. We will only use four picks at teh very most.

I think that at pick 12 we should take the best available player. I think that we shouldn't worry about position with a first round pick.

Then with our remaining two or three picks that we will use 30,61 and possibly 62 i still think that we should draft the best available, and that might mean taking a punt on jericho.

Everyone is saying that our forward line will be weak in a couple of years but i dont think it will. Over the next couple of years our young onballers (ves, jack, bird, schmidt merideth, moore, possibly another draftee) will hopefully step up and free goodes up to play in the forward line.

Our backline could do with some work but i see alot of promise especially in Murphy, Reg. LRT and t.Richards aren't that old and unlike alot of posters i believe LRT does really well in our backline.

A couple of other things i would like to say is that i would be happy if the swans could snare a NSW boy with pick 30 or 61. The two NSW boys i can see making it in the AFL are Ediriwickrama (if he nominates for the draft) and klemke.

with our last pick used i wouldn't mind picking up Luke Jericho. I would be happy taking a punt on Jericho with our last pick. As i said on another thread if he hardens the **** up (with Sydney's game plan he will have to if he wants to play AFL) he has the skill to be a quality AFL player.

isn't Jericho only eligible for the PSD not National Draft?
would like to see him picked up somewhere else (somewhere with a few good inside mids)

Delisted players I think can nominate for the ND, too.

The absolute most that Jericho will get is a mature rookie slot. At least from Sydney. And probably from everyone else too, in this draft where youth is being fetishised like never before. You'd think that the rules for the 2009/10 drafts were 'no club may draft an 18 year old'.

31 from 33 games suggests otherwise.
